Hello all

I have a Dax Cobra powered by a Chevy 350ci V8 (5700cc) with Edelbrock rocker cover and air filter plus performance carburettor and inlet manifold. My question is how do I get more bhp from this engine? Or is there a company that can do this for me?

This is my second Cobra and the first one ( with the same engine) felt a lot faster, plus on the overrun would make some amazing noises as it crackled and popped away.

Thanks in advance

Olly

The first job would be to see what you have got to start with.

Quick power run on a local rolling road would do it. If you can get an afr trace during the run will see if it is tuned ok.

Secondly find out what cams you have in it, that will tell you what the potential is.

There are us engine soecialusts about, I drive past namco in farnborough regularly, that may be able to help, other side rimmer brothers do v8 tuning.

I would guess you have a restrictive exhaust (headers and pipe) change the headers first and the rest if its still choked

then get it re-jetted accordingly.

There are entire books / companies dedicated to this engine.

However as mentioned I'd start with a RRoad trip as I've gained over 100bhp on a 4.2 V8 on the rollers as it wasn't tuned correctly.

Thanks all for advice so far. Really appreciate it. The plan is to run the car in first and then see what I can do to it. I’m based in Surrey so if anyone knows any nearby specialists that can help please refer over.
Thank you

Couple in the south worth a call

Readcraft in shoreham by sea https://www.roadcraftuk.co.uk

Namco in farnborough as per my first response http://namcoamerican.com

For rolling roads Lloyd’s in Wiltshire do a lot of tvr and order carb stuff http://www.lloydspecialistdevelopments.co.uk/dyno-...

Or there is Surrey rolling road, they do a power run for £50 with afr readout http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk you could do namco and srr in one trip. Power run then discuss with namco?
