Saw this today, looked very nice so I took a photo.

My suspicions were then aroused by the 'F' reg, but it's not coming up as anything on the usual reg check apps.

Any ideas?

Wow.

WOW.

Car and plate will be worth an absolute fortune.

But. I wonder if it's just a show plate. It's not coming up on our system as a valid reg.

I used 'My Car Check' and also the government MOT check site and both came up with no match for F250 CAL.

"F" in this context relates to vehicles registered between 1 Aug 1988 and 31 July 1989, so no it a spoof IMHO.
As you say, it's not showing up on MOT/TAX checker either.
Should be in the CR4PPY plates section maybe? biggrin

Yes. Understood.

And yes. It cant be fitted to this car due to it being a younger plate.

So it's clearly a kit car with a number plate that doesn't come up when you check it?

Can we play guess what the base was now?

I seem to remember a few kits going around couple of years ago creating something similar from a Z3? I always thought they looked really good but didn't think that the Ferrari badges were a great idea. I think as kits go it looks superb and probably wouldn't be adverse to have one with the 3.2l engine in it, but probably either have no badges or some BMW roundalls.

Surely if it's on askmid but not coming up on the DVLA site then that means it's been registered with a show plate with the insurance company? I wasn't even aware you could do that.

If it's an F prefix plate, it shouldn't be silver on black, should it?

I know they reworded it a bit at one point with how the allowance for what could use black plates was defined, but I don't think it extended to that.

Nope. And it should be spaced F250 CAL.

It moved from being fixed 1/1/73 - which was the date they stopped being legal on new cars - to going with the 40yr historic ved.

Yeh, you just fib to the insurer about the real plate...

More likely is that it's in the throes of having the plate changed.

Oh I don't know the answer, I'm just putting my guess in there. But seeing from the old thread for the Z3 version, the headlights seem completely different...

We saw this parked outside the Corinthia Hotel last Thursday night with a residents permit in the window. I can confirm that in the flesh, both exterior and interior look stunning. And considering they were residents at one of the more expensive hotels in the city, the owner has no doubt spent a fair chunk on what is a very good recreation. So may be such a crappy kit car after all 🙂
