We are still in the EU so the threat of compulsory motor sport insurance may effect us. The MIA and MSA are asking for your support.

I thought this scaremongering bks had long since had a lid put on it by reality...?

Motorsport is a HUGE industry - even before considering other industries that would be badly affected. This doomsday scenario is not going to happen, that simple.

I have it in mine to make my voice heard in this before the deadline in a weeks time.

Regardless of how much flack there would be if it did significantly impinge on motorsport, I don't think ignoring it willy nilly is wise.

We are not going to loose F1 or the BTCC to it, but it might put a grand on the cost of doing your local clublevel autotest winter series, which would be far worse in my eyes.

This is bigger than motorsport.
Insurance for personal injury will be mandatory for all motorised vehicles, even on private ground.
So all trackdays, car and bike. Ride on lawnmowers. Golf cars. Diggers & tractors. Electric powered bikes, (the goverment thinks that bikes that only gain the benefit of power assistance whilst pedaling will be excluded). Cycles with hand/thumb throttles will require insurance, and of course may have to obtain a numberplate.
The debate is to the UN not the UK Gov.

Here in France we already pay this fee. Typically a fee of 20 - 39€ per track day, depending on cover. I believe this may only be for personal cover. The ride on mower is covered by the house insurance. I only have a manual mountain bike so can't comment on that, but there are a lot of electrical powered bike about and I doubt if any have insurance.

EdIt to add -
I have just resurched the cost for my own for trackday.
Car 35€ . Bike 15€. This covers the basic legal medical coverage for anybody you may hit. To cover your own medical costs is an extra 10€ per event.

I have already filled the form in & replied, I found this link

LINK

very useful. The form is a nightmare to fill in, I suspect quite deliberately, presumably to discourage dissenters from making their views felt however, if you follow the instructions in the link it can be done in less than 10 mins& I think it's VERY important to make our voice felt on this as otherwise the EU will simply ride roughshod over everything, & if it comes in b4 we're out, our bunch of idiots in Government will probably copy/paste it along with everything else - it really does not appear to have been thought thro' properly at all! madmadmad
