I have a GD mk 4 euro Cobra. I choose this as IMO it is the best “replica” that has nice road manners and comfortable to drive, going like stink helps as well smile
Recently wife and I had a holiday down the west country, put 500 miles on the cobra with no problems, the weather was good however, albeit we had a few rain showers on the way down which was ok as we kept moving. I have a decent toneau cover for overnight parking which I have made waterproof so the cockpit does not get soaked! I do have a fabric roof, but that is only really for emergencies as I suspect it will flap too much at speed unless you put the full length side windows on. Car is great fun.

I went out in a couple of Dax’s and a Magnam, some nice, some crap, it very much depends on who has screwed them together and set up.
Not spoken to Headturners I did email them some years ago but did not get as reply. I hear they are a decent outfit though.

My advice is go a try as many as you can, also, bear in mind Side pipes whilst looking the bis can be tiresome on a journey and easy to burn your legs on when exiting the car!

The http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/forum.php is a good place to ask around, they are a very helpful keen bunch.

I used to own a Mk 3 Gd, loved the car but could not justify keeping it as i hardly used it due to our crap weather.
I chose to build it as it had the best reputation for handling, has a very good chassis and solid body.
I fitted a soft top but it was a pita to put up and spoiled the look of the car, the side windows were also a poor design.
It did help keep the worst of the rain off though.
The hard tops on the dax cars look really good, not to everyones taste though but i like them.

Yes you are spot on and for that sort of budget you could buy a "proper" car, and not something that purports to be what it is not.

Expensive, but hold their value exceedingly well, probably the "cheapest" car I have ever (or will ever) owned.

It turns heads of all ages, raises a smile in everyone.

Sunday blasts or slow bimbles are great on sunny days, plenty of boot space for week long Eurohoons, weather gear "OK" but a good coat and cap would be my preference unless it's going to be a long slog on a wet day.

Which is best.....piece of string question, although their are some that are better starting points than others!

Oh, and stick a blower in it ;-)

I had a Dax with a proper race tuned Ford 289 engine. Stainless tuned exhaust and properly set up suspension and brakes.
Superb car although somewhat physical to drive.
There's some awful rubbish out there and some of the newer designs look nothing like a Cobra. You get what you pay for and the reason that good ones are expensive and hold their value is that proper engineering has gone into them and they have cost a lot to build.
TotalHeadturners are a great bunch and very knowledgeable- I don't agree that they over-price.

I have a Dax, purchased from Total Headturners.

Yes it's more expensive than buying from a private seller, but I'd rather have some recourse if it all went tits up.

Alex was amazingly helpful during my purchase and was happy as I sat in everyone they had (over 30 cars at the time) until I found one I liked.

He was also very helpful in sorting out a few niggles and even fetched the car back and replaced the carb when I wasn't happy, and replaced a non functioning immobiliser and then shipped it back to me.

I think those that say they are exorbitant and over priced haven't actually got any experience of dealing with them and just have a hangup about people trying to make a living.

Where else can you pick from that number of cars?
