Replacing a K series in a 7....

Obvious option would be the duratec as it is already an OEM caterham fit - 200-220hp fairly easy, gts expensive from there on.
Rather than the k20 why not go for the S2000 F20, come with free 6 speed box.
Or if you don't mind turbo then the 1.6 ecoboost is small and all alloy (unlike the 2.0l) plus zetec SE/Sigma based, has upto 180hp out of the box and can be tuned to 300hp on stock internals (have a look at the SBD site). Also Sigma is a caterham fit so will have bell housing for the type 9 and engine mounts. Would consider changing the type 9 for a semi helical SPC type 9 if you go this route, better ratios and can handle more power.

F20C is a very tall engine. If you use the gearbox , it will need a wider transmission tunnel. You will find it more work than its worth to get the engine in. They cost a load now , a decent engine is 4k second hand. Thats a lot of money you could mod the K series.

If you want to "keep the weight down" font even consider a Type R or a turbo'd iron block motor. Intercoolers, plumbing etc. all put the weight back up. After driving a friends 210bhp K-series Superlight R, it was just sbout perfect.
Personally I would tune the K, properly, that thing had a balance and power delivery that was beautiful . At Zolder nothing came past us without wings and slicks.

I agree with furyblade - K series suits a 7 perfectly, in comparison the Honda Is ginormous/heavy/and very tall, so Not suited at all to a 7, the Honda gearbox is way fat & too big to fit as mentioned above.
200BHP in a 7 is more than ample, I've owned a 7 for 40 odd years Mine has 160BHP which is also ample IMO. Of course you have some who think they can handle 200BHP+. In all my time with a 7 I've only met and blatted with 1 person who I consider could Drive & handle his 240+BHP 7 properly.
