New to kit cars =)
Discussion
Well, I’m 17 and should be having driving lessons soon... I've actually gotten more interested into cars and kitcars in specific as well. But down to the boiling point, I know nothing about cars at all...
So, what should I learn and 'where' to get at least a basic understanding of kitcars /cars, so I might possibly survive owning a kitcar =) ? I'm thinking of buying a second-hand, pre-made kitcar to start myself off, doing small work on that and work my way up, would you lot recommend that?
Finally =), I'm pretty open minded about what kitcar to get, so what ones would you suggest? Although I do like Mini's so something like that would be cool (some of the kitcar buggies look great but no back seat and roof doesn't seam practical for me but I can live with just a two seater ^^)
^ I know the obvious question is how much are you willing to spend, but it all depends, so I can’t really answer that – as a first kitcar, I don’t want to be spending too much on it, with the fact that I won’t be using it that much I could probably keep under 1500 miles a year lol…
I know I’m asking a lot from you guys and is a bit cheeky (imo) – I have been trying to find this out on Google but so far isn’t too good… any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you =)

it would probably be better getting a finished one, try to find one thats on the road taxed and tested and everything.
if it were me i'd probably go for something ford or maybe beetle based. if its beetle based chances are it'll probably be tax emempt saving you about £160 a year.
i bought my first car a nova kit car when i was 19, never had a normal car yet! (although i did once go into a garage to see what you got for £4000. what they showed me was nice enough but i just couldnt justify spending that much on insureance and then there was the devaluation!!
