i'm thinking of a caterham type car and along with looking at the usual suspects (striker, MK, tiger etc) i've seen some pictures of formula 27's and was wondering if anyone has any experience of them and if they are any good compared to the others already mentioned? they look quite nice

Pretty much anything is better than Robin Hood, including properly made Locosts (which are after all a copy of the pre-lit Westfield chassis). Actualy, RH is still king over the Locust IMO. A '7' with a ladder chassis is just wrong.

That said, I've seen some nicely made Hoods that look ok, but underneath is still the awfull RH engineering.

You have a huge choice of cars in the budget '7' market:

MK Indy
Luego Velocity
GTS De-dion
MNR Vortex
Tiger (numerous models)
Sylva Striker The mojo is a sweet looking alternative.
Stuart Taylor

I'm sure there are many more I've forgotten as well.
