Date first Used and registration Date
Discussion
Can anyone help / advice.
I have checked my Jago Jeep registration year and it comes up on the DVLA site as 1984 although the running gear / engine is earlier as you would imagine from a Kit car.
But when I check the DVLA MOT checker it says quite clearly that the Kit car
'Date first used' was on 1st January 1971.
Now from what I have managed to dig up during the early 80's a lot of kit cars were re classified as a later year, not the original year on the rd due to admin errors etc, so I am told.
Has anyone else had anything similar? as far as I can see my vehicle should be 1971 and not 1984 as it states on the V5. Surely the DVLA should of checked the MOT history and seen that they had the wrong year on the V5
or am I wrong?
cheers

It could be that 1971 was the first year of whatever the donor car was and 1984 was the year of the chassis/kit from Jago.
My girlfriend (now ex-wife) and I bought a Jeep kit from Jago in 1984 and used a 2ltr Pinto engine and auto box (it was going to be her car and she had a bad left knee so manual was out) from a mk3 Cortina estate but due to ill health and some other stuff we never finished it and sold it to a mate in about 1989/1990 and last we heard he had sold it on but never heard whether it was ever registered...

Well you would think that but the 1971 year on the MOT is under my Q plate registration.
just came off the phone to DVLA they said if I can print off the proof which is in on their site anyway!!!. and send it off to them with my V5 as long as the Date on Rd is 1971 under my registration number they will look to change it.
Fingers crossed they will, means no Rd tax
There was a 2L automatic jago for sale not so long back on ebay.

My Rickman is down as registration date 1976, so they used the date of the donor. When I pit the Quantum through SVA in 2009 the V5 came back with 2009 registration (although donor was 1987), it was issued with a 1987 ie E prefix plate. So to get 'free' RFL I'llhave to wait until 2034.
your jago has a q-plate but has a 1971 reg-date?
thats really strange n 1st view.
this said, the company jago started building the geep (jeep copy) in 1971, based on ford´s anglia.
