Can anyone tell me the best way of sorting this:

I need to extend the hydraulic clutch pipe so it will now reach the back of the car. I was going to use a copper pipe (standard brake / clutch pipe), but this has plastic fittings:

Resevoir end:

Thing in the middle:

Clutch end:

And do I need the bit in the middle?
BTW it's a Rover 1.6 K series.

Are the master /slave cylinders metal? If so, you can undo the unions and replace the whole lot with copper. The bit in the middle? My advice would be bin it!

Good luck

This has been a problem for some of the recent Libra builders, Mark. IIRC there isn't a bleeb nipple either .
I'll see if I can find anything out and mail you.

Edited to say: YHM

Ferg is right, there is no bleed nipple and although there is a metal 'nut' on the unions the res and piston are both plastic.

And Ferg's email is not good news either!

I wonder if the thing in the middle is a damper? I have an Alfa 164 with a similar odd thing (much smaller though) in the clutch line and its just a restrictor to prevent clutch judder when letting out the clutch. I've had 3 164s now and have thrown the "thing" away each time (pretty standard practive among 164 owners, I gather!) The clutch is noticeably lighter without it and I haven't really noticed any judder!

Ex-biker these are brought as complete assemblys not parts and come with brake fluid in,they are as you know fitted to the rover range of cars also feelander's,my advice is to bin it and go get a master and slave off some other car that use's alloy master and slave then you can pipe it up all round the chassis m8.

Basically what I have been told (via email) by others. The recommendation was an MGF system.

Thanks everyone that contacted me.
