So, if the car is not registered it will need an iva, without a donor registration it will get a q reg (assuming it passes), the test is around £500 and only available at a few centres so you will have transport costs and more than likely a retest (£100 ish plus travel again).
If it is registered check the log book says Robin Hood on it, anything else walk away especially if it is dutton or a standard car I.e. Ford Sierra as the car is illegally registered and will need an IVA and a fight with the dvla.

Under the old SVA it was legal to drive to and from the VOSA test station, in the same way it would be legal to drive the car to an MOT station. After my test, I left Bishopbriggs and immediately joined traffic behind a police car and they never batted an eyelid for the next 20 miles.
