Old alternator had 2 connection. Feed to battery and to dash warning lamp.

New alternator has the main output plus a 2 pin connector. One to dash warning and I think the other is ignored live. Question is which connection is which?

Is that circuit diagram for the new alternator? If so then you need to follow the circuit where it disappears from your picture in the bottom left to find out where the last wire goes too. However, seeing as it is marked as a brown wire then convention would have it as a permanent live.

I googled the alt. part number but failed to find the pin idents to help you...sorry. Are you sure there are no markings on the case beside the pins?

cheers Steve - no that is the wiring diagram for the old one

I'll check to see if any other markings - bi=ut looks like it is standard 2 pin socket connection 1 to warning light and 1 to perm or ign 12v , I just don't know which one is which

You need the alternator on the table in front of you then google something like 'Bosch alternator pinout'.
Then go through images until you find the right one.
Good hunting.

IIRC the way a 3 pin alternator connection works is one is permanent battery +ve, one earth, one output. The warning light goes from output to permanent +ve. When the ignition is on and the alternator has no output, the output shows 0V and so the 12V live feed lights the lamp. When the engine starts the output rises to battery voltage so the light goes out. HTH, good luck getting a wiring layout.
