I always thought that the Smart city car would make an interesting modern alternative for a future modern kit.
Well here is the first idea to come out from
www.michalak-design.de
Maybe the design is not to everybodies liking ( I quite like it), but the idea and pricing is!.
What do you think

The text roughly translated says:
Mainz/Geneva, March 2005 - Michalak Design lets the idea of the legendary kit Cars revive again: On that Geneva automobile salon presents the Mainzer enterprise therefore to the prototypes C7 - a complete construction of vehicles set, which transforms the Smart Fortwo at minimum expenditure into a small and dynamic sports car. Series production will start after past planning still in this year, and the prices are to begin under 5,000 euro.

Is it just me or does it look like the car in the picture above is roughly the size of a shoe? The street composition looks odd.

Yeah, see what you mean actually, almost like a 1:12 scale model or something. Still quite attractive though, in a small kinda way.
Spent years looking at kit cars (started in 1979 when I bought my first Beach Buggy) and moved up through various plastic vehicles (Reliant Scimitars x2, TVR Cerbera, TVR 350i and Smart Roadster). Some of the profiles are OK on this one (top down is superb) but the front end seems to suffer from the usual kit problems, to my mind it looks too much like a like a Dutton Phaeton, too slab fronted. Good effort though. Looks like an attempt to make an american custom cruiser.
