Hello,

I've got a Sylva Pheonix race car that i'm thinking of getting SVA'd. just wondering at this point whether having a full roll cage would affect its chances of passing.

Any ideas?

It should be fine. No sharp edges? Can you post a picture of one?

It'd probably be worth putting some padding around the role cage where the occupant(s) head could possibly come in contact with it. Even if it only stays there for the purposes of SVA.

If the actual mirror is recessed inside the casing you may need to glue some trim around the edges of the mirror casing, always handy to take various bits of trim with you and some glue, just in case Good luck.

Cage should be fine though.

Nothing to add re the cage. Is the rest of the car SVA compliant? Worth having a check and tack some trim, padding, glue and duct tape. It can all be ripped off once you have the MAC!

Best of luck

Thanks for the info guys,

you've basically confirmed what i've been thinking of doing. i.e. sticking bits of trim on things that don't meet the radius criteria, i think i might have to tack a rolled edge onto the exhaust too as it sticks out a bit and has a sharp rim.

Anyone got a link to an online SVA guide and i'll start reading through it.

Thanks again

Urr, isn't that what the sticky is at the top of this forum?

IIRC they have changed the rules on SVA so that bits of padding stuck on do not comply as they are only temporary fixes.

Not sure if this has happened yet or is going to happen

Sorry to put a downer on things.

different tack but is this the car that was advertised on PH? I seem to remember it being a bit of a beast - what's the engine in it and where do you plan to race it?

Errrmm... yep there's info at the top. don't look up there much just look for the red new thread tags. Doh!

Will look into the temporary fix thing a bit more (when i've read the above!!)

Yes it is the car from the PH classifieds, its got a Cosworth YB engine, approx 330hp. I bought the car because I'm planning to race it in the Harewood Hillclimb Championship this year along with a few other sprints and trackdays. Got no budget to go circuit racing this year... might enter the northern or southern sports and saloons next year depending on where in the country i am by then.

Was going to convert my Dax into a race car but decided against it in the end (Anyone want to buy an awesome road registered Dax rush cosworth??).

It's going to be painful to sell it but, it will be going in the PH classifieds in the next month or so.

Thanks again for all the pointers, i'll read the SVA info before posting more daft questions!

Tim.
