I've been looking for a decent seat with good support and head protection to fit to my race Westfield for some time now, and saw one made by a company called Reverie at the Autosport show.

It's called the XR C (details here and it fits the bill perfectly, although I've not had a chance to confirm whether it would fit in the car or not.

Has anyone seen one of these fitted to a wide bodied Westfield, or can you suggest any other seats that are of a similar design and ideally a bit cheaper!

you could try Fluke motorsport, who do all things carbon for westies or try Cat motorsport, playskool. There is a guy selling some nice black race seats on the westfield forum at the moment which are slightly padded and aren't limb removing prices like Reverie. Some people must have so much money they don't know where to put it to buy that stuff, nice tho'

I've had a look at Fluke and on the WSCC site, and none of the seats apart from the Reverie have the side impact "ears", which I'd really like to have.

I agree, they are pricey, but at the moment there doesn't seem to be an alternative that offers the same level of head protection and which will also fit in the car.

The caterham ones are pricy though £270. I got mine from magnum motor sport £84, bargain

Re head protection, you'd be much better off with a neck brace or even better (read pricy) a Hans device

All IMHO

Caterham ones don't have as much body support as the ones above, and don't have the head support either.

I am going to be using a HANS, but these only support the neck in a frontal impact, and don't do anything for sideways movement, hence wanting a seat with the big "ears".

the straps attach to the side of the helmet I was under the impression that they gave pretty good side impact protection

Nope, not for pure side on impacts, although they do give more protection in an angled impact. They are most effective in a frontal impact however.

Some interesting info here:
