Improving Sierra Brakes
Discussion
My Tiger Supercat uses brakes from a '88 2litre Sierra.
The pedal is hard with little travel (the pistons are free, I checked) and very little feel.
The brakes do work and it is possible to lock the wheels but only with considerable pressure. BTW there is no servo fitted.
I thought that larger piston calipers would give more brake pressure at the expense of slightly longer pedal travel, and hopefully more feel.
1 - is this a wise course of action ?
2 - if so does anyone know what calipers would fit, or are there improved aftermarket items I could buy ?

A lo cost alternative would be to get calipers relocated to allow larger diameter discs.
I know Dax offer a set of adaptor plates that relocate the calipers to fit the larger sierra 4x4 discs, if your car uses the same uprights and calipers this is by far the cheapest option to get more power with no more braking effort.
If you want to go the whole hog check out www.godspeedbrakes.co.uk/ i've got the 308mm brembo setup on my dax and its awesome. no fade, loads of power and virtually no brake pad wear because they are well over specified for such a light car (oh yeah... they look great too )

different master cylinder sizes will improve your pedal effort, not sure if your kit manufacturer will know something about this, otherwise a change of pad/disc combo may help if you know the braking system if functioning correctly, non servo brakes are not the greatest, but should stop a light car easily
