Does anyone know... where I can get an adjustable brake proportion valve without it costing a stupid amount? You can get them in the US for $30 so I'm not going to pay £90 for one here (which is where I'm getting stuck)!!

Mine is from Tilton, don't remember what it cost but it was cheap compared to the brakes that came with it! Remember this type of valve is only good for correcting the dynamic brake balance to match the weight transfer under braking - you also need to set the static balance (e.g. by a balance bar).

Ah, didn't know that. I'd better to some research.

Cheers.

Does it have to be adjustable? You can pilfer fixed ones from various mass-produced cars and you can "series" them to get larger pressure reductions if necessary. You could also try a hydraulics shop for an adjustable pressure regulator and then try to cobble up some appropriately sized unions but I don't know if the internals would be compatible with brake fluid.

The Metro pressure regulator is fixed as standard, but if you drill and tap the end of the housing you can convert it to adjustable. But all these gadgets do is adjust the bias to compensate for weight transfer. You still need to get the static brake distribution correct first, and this basically means getting the mechanical leverages right.

Interesting.

It doesn't have to be adjustable, the manual lists a non-ABS 3-series BMW item but that's hassle to order as BMW parts places want an exact model before they can give you a part.

So... I thought an adjustable one would be ideal.

I'll have to check.
