Kitcar show to preview Daytona replicas
Stock up for your winter project here
The Great Western Kit and Sportscar show, open from 20-21 November 2004, celebrates its tenth year at Exeter's Westpoint Exhibition centre this year. Over the years there has been some spectacular cars seen at the show and 2004 is no exception with lots of debut makers and new launches.
Including the stunning Daytona replica from British American Daytonas, an offshoot of British American Engines, which is importing this superb American kit made in Nebraska by Shell Valley.
Aeon Sportscars has purchased the Pell Genesis roadster (top right). The new car will mate together the proven Aeon chassis and the modern smooth lines of the Pell Genesis will add a new car to the range. It will be on show for the first time at Exeter.
Capable Pell Genesis is now made by Aeon Sportscars. Photo courtesy of Adrian Moore.
Vintage Motors is displaying two of its cars, the well known Sabre and the Vintage Motor Company's Bramwith Limousine (bottom right).
As the winter season approaches thoughts turn to the garage and car building. Exeter brings a great opportunity to buy all the tools, spares electrical bits and bobs and of course carpet, upholstery and everything needed to finish your kit. Premier Wiring, Stafford Vehicle Components, M& M Trim and many more well-known component suppliers will be at the show to supply all your needs.
In the HSBC Arena, TV Star and spectacular stunt man Jason Finn will be performing as this year’s special attraction. Jumps, wheelies and general bike mayhem will all entertain you. Also in the arena will be around 500 privately owned kitcars – and if you drive a kitcar to the show you will gain free entry.
If you love cars you must be at Westpoint, Exeter on the 20/21 November 2004. Opening times are 10am to 5pm both days. Admittance - £8 adults, children 12 and under £2.

But please don't tell me it's based on the MX-5

Do BAD have a website? I know they're the only company who does MR2 rebodies in all styles in accurate dimensions with replica interiors and turbo conversions available, even if you like them or not you've got to agree they're thorough, so I wonder what they've done with the Daytona.
But please don't tell me it's based on the MX-5
Not the same company...
The only thing I am a little disturbed by is that it uses a rigid rear axle.

Nice, but not as nice as £75k's worth of Superformance Daytona Coupe.

But £50k Cheaper than a Superformance
LRdriver II said:As I understand it, the Brock Superperformance Coupe is actually not a replica per se. Peter Brock worked with them and restyled all the lines. So you can't really blame them for adding creature comforts as it's supposed to be an updated road car based on the Daytona, it doesn't pretend to be a direct replica.
The super performance is an everyday driver.. carpets, a/c, leccy windows. Rumour is that the sidepipes are fakes with the real ones exiting elsewhere. The BADaytona will be made as the origianl car was intended, a RACECAR. and will be made for whomever wants one. not like the poxy Superformance one that will be kept at limited numbers to keep "exclusivity" for what basically is a REPLICA.
The only thing I am a little disturbed by is that it uses a rigid rear axle.
