I have been looking around for some wheels for my build but I can't seem to find anything but a set of four of the same size. I need 2 x 17" 7J (front) & 2 x 17" 8J (rear)

Any ideas where I can go in the UK? I am looking for budget set of touring style - my bank manager won't let me buy anything too fancy

Try looking on the top shelf of youre locl newsagent for Max-power/Revs etcetc. Loads of wheel dealers etc, if they have a style with different widths they will mix and match (they will sell you one wheel if you want) new ranges out so could get good deals.

All the best

along similar lines, i'm building one of them ferrari replicas based on the mr2. with a bit of measureing it seems i can get 15 or 16 inch wide wheels on the back and probarbly between 8-10 inches at the front. but i'm wondering what will the car drive like with such wide wheels? will it all be ok or should i stick to something narrow??

Something narrower would be better, perhaps the set of rather tasty Ferrari alloys I have sitting in the corner of my office would work? :-)

Did you go to exeter? The Aeon Spider had some nice compomotives on I think 8"wide ( fronts will be 7") both 17" diameter they did look very nice indeed and at a fraction of the cost of my Image wheels. I might look into getting a set for sticky trackday rubber.

I was planning to go to Exeter but family commitments dictated otherwise

John mentioned the Compomotives but I havent seen any as yet - did you see a model number by any chance? I really need a set soon because my rolling chassis needs to roll soon after Christmas coz my garage is going to be too small to work inside.

Last week I had a firm of Japanese car accessory importers move into the factory opposite mine ...... they might do some nice wheels [brings out the welcome mat and happy smiley face]
