i'm fairly new to this marque of car but am extremely interested in buying one! I've heard that a caterham's handerling is very good, but how good is good?!! does it behave like a typical rearwheel drive car (i.e. TVR) when going round corners or better?

Also, what are the insurance costs like for a person in their early 20's on something like a Caterham Roadsport 140?? Any info on good companies would be much appreciated.

thanks mark.

IMO they handle more like a kart than anything else. Creature comforts to match. Book a test drive in one and make up your own mind! Go on don't be shy.

When I was insuring mine I used a classic car policy. I gave the companies & phone # of these on a Ferrari thread called insuring Ferrari's or something like that.

Have fun

Try posting some questions on www.blatchat.com, you're sure to get some views there from 7 owners. There's lots in the archive on insurance.

I've had a Superlight R for about a year, following 6 years of various TVRs from Chim 4.3 to Cerb 4.5. The whole experience, never mind the handling, is totally different. There is far far more grip, doesn't roll or dive nearly as much, just as quick below 100, and yes you can provoke oversteer in good old fashioned RWD style, but I'd agree it handles a lot more like a big go-kart and for that reason it is utterly fantastic IMHO. But also not nearly as well suited as a road car (again IMHO) - the Superlight R anyway.

For insurance I pay less than 300 a year for mine, try Hill House Hammond (specialist cars unit) on 01733 310899.

Try Footman James classic insurance. I'm 25 with 1 years no claims and have just got a quote of £823 for fully comp, 3000 miles on a Porsche 944 S2
