so Westfield have been making the seven kit for a long time now but my recent search for an early car, narrow bodied SE, seems to be turning nothing up. I have been looking for a bit of a shed (no comments from the Caterham owners required!) or even a car which is in boxes but to no avail...

any ideas?

I've found the same problem. I'm after a pre-lit Westie, but they're few and far between!

There was one advertised in Kit car around 4 months ago.........

I have all the old issues of Kit car and Which Kit car going back around five years, so if you are seriously interested I could look it up for you.....

IIRC it was around five grand.........

Having owned a wide and now a narrow SE the difference is very noticeable, it's tighter than I am!
I had to get a smaller steering wheel to stop scraping my nuckles on the roll cage
You hardly ever find any for sale but try the WSCC forum as there was a guy on there recently who was selling. Alternatively join their club; a quick look through a back copy has just come up with five narrow SE's for sale from between 6K-2K.

Link to club is www.wscc.co.uk

thanks for the replies, i was hoping that there would be a few basket cases out there so perhaps joining the club might be the best bet. It will at least put me in contact with the right people. Dont really want a pre-lit car as they tend to be coveted examples, so i had an idea that looking for an early, well used SE might be easier.... ha ha ha!.... As per all my other ramblings, its another competition car idea I have had.... you have no idea how much mrs pablo detests these competition car ideas of mine!.....

Yep, the wscc site will be your best resource. Loads of info/chat/banter!

I put a post on racecar.co.uk a few months ago and there was a chap on there who had a friend that had an old Westie sitting around, in need of a bit of work...said he'd probably sell it for around £3k iirc. Good place to try I suppose...

There were very few early Westfields made....and now 10-15years on, there are far fewer around...many have fallen apart, crashed or or just junked.

So early Westy's are like rocking horse do-do....Just look at Westfield 11 prices !

Same goes for Caterham, but many old Caterhams end up in Scandinavia or N.America to form the basis of a full re-build of a Lotus 7 replica to get over local registration rules, this is probably the main reason why Caterham second hand prices are so high....
