Hi every one , I've been offered a 1984 lotus/Westfield car. The owner has asked me to make him an offer, and I'm trying to get an idea of what it should be. it's not in the greatest condition but the owner is a mechanic so it's runs fine but it's had a few owners. It's pre-lit alu body, had an engine rebuild and the chasis powder coated. I've got a number in my head but I don't want to offend the owner or vise-versa, get ripped off. I know it's difficult to give an accurate price with out seeing more but it would help to get some guidance.

Thank you.

is it this one?

I spotted it in the Left to die thread. Hopefully it is being saved.

Difficult to say without more info, it's nearly 30 years old so plenty of scope for abuse!
It could turn out to be a nice example that has been well cared for and worth £5k.
It could have a worn engine, knackered suspension, tired body & interior etc. and be worth £3k

A couple of winters ago (so out of season) someone I know bought one for £2k. Spent another £3k doing it up and now has a very respectable "modern" car. Zetec ST engine, new suspension and refitted interior.

There's a reasonable looking example in the classifieds here for £4250, if you need something to compare.

Thanks every one. Every one is coming up with what I reckon, I was going to offer four, but the seller wants considerably more. We'll in to double figures, I think he has been misguided along the way by some one.

As with anything being offered for sale, it's only worth what someone (and it only takes 1) is willing to pay. What the vendor thinks it's worth may be far away from what he'll achieve.

"well into double figures" will buy you a 2 year old duratec powered/megabusa FW Westfield (£13-14k)
A bit less with get you a 5 year old Zetec with some nice toys/shiney bits on it
And we are looking at £3-5k for a 1984 xflow/pint westfield as previously said.

May be worth pointing him in the direction of the classifieds on here as a calibration.

He certainly has.......£4 tops.

(But, like everything else, something is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it)
