Why is it that whenever a topic relating to Cobras is started, it always degenerates into a slanging match? And a locked thread. From where I sit, watching the antics, There seems to be only one common denominator, Friends of Vince, and Vince. Can they not see that all this negative talk, does immeasurable harm to the Python, and the Kit Car industry in general. As for Dave Brooks, anyone who has ever looked at the CRC forum, will know that he falls over himself to help other Cobra builders, regardless of make, I am frankly supprised that he finds the time to build his excellent cars. It's about time that Vince accepted that they would be no witch hunt against the Python, if he got on and delivered what he has been promising for the last 2 years!!

Is there a Phython web site?

I've seen the Dax Cobra and they look good.

So what's the difference?

BTW I ain’t a troll.

I currently drive a Chim and I'm genuinely interested.

Could I get a removable Hard Top on a Cobra?

OH and what do you do for side windows?

Or am I just a wuss after driving a Chim?

All these questions.

BTW is anybody asks if you seen me in here "you ain't seen me right!"

Al,

Asking a question like "Dax or Python" is like lighting a blue touch paper and standing well back.

There are so many Cobra replicas on the market, and every one of them has it's fans.

Go to any Kit Car show, or meet, where scores of Cobra owners turn up, and they will all tell you that theirs is the best kit on the market (which is why they chose it in the first place!)

Cobra with a hard top......

Picture of Cobra with Hard Top

And it looks fab in the flesh too!

Probably just me, but I think a hard top on a great car like that cobra spoils the lines.

It was the same with the triumph spitfire and GT6
( I think that was the model)

No, I agree.... but modern day practicalities (jealous scum usually!) means that a hard top is sometimes desirable.

And that Cobra one is a pretty good effort at not spoiling the car!

I disagree.

I think the GT6 is a much nicer looking car than the Spit, the MGBGT much nicer than the Roadster and, as I don't really care for Cobras, anything that makes them look different from the endless crowd can only be a good thing.

I guess I'm just a Coupe kinda guy!

Now Seven's...that's a different thing all together!!

meeja..... please sort the size of that picture.

Fact remains the Python is very close to a no-go area as decreed by Ted, and that should be respected by us all.

Doesn't mean we can't talk about it, only that we MUST avoid the contensious issues, comparisons etc etc....

Well as I'm here asking about painting I might as well comment.

I've got all the bits that make up a Python in my garage, have had for ages so and there's even a Python demonstrator that's been seen in public so I'm obviously not imagining it.

So... I'm not quite sure what the "if he got on and delivered what he has been promising for the last 2 years!!" refers to.

I have to agree with Monty on this.... the car appears to exist now.

However, with one or two OTHER contentious projects excepted, I can't think of a car extensively advertised as 'For Sale' without actually having a demonstrator before. Still, 2 years later, let's put that all behind us.

Anyone want to email me as to what land mines not to tread on!

So without wishing to start the third world war,

What is the general consensus as to the best "turnkey" Cobra available.

I like that hard top very much!

Spitfires and GT6's (sorry)

And what happend to the side windows on the Cobra? What fill the whole if it’s not attached to the door?

Any pics of one with it’s hood up?

First three Chassis where delivered spring 2003,(one of which was montypythons)is that not "getting on with it"??? (try reading another Mag)
And if it were not for someone telling UK customs that there was DOPE in the container then the Demo car would have got to Stoneliegh !!(Wonder who would do such a lowdown thing as that ??)
Think Vince may of had a lot more to "DEAL" with than just making a CAR at times!!!

I accept that the Python is a living thing, and I have seen the demonstator at Donnington. What I was trying to get across is , that every time anything Cobra related comes up, it always, but always ends up with a locked thread because of all the Python Spat. I have an avid interest in all things Cobra, And i'm just fed up that Cobra's cant be dissussed sensibly, Without the thread being dragged into the gutter at every opportunity. I Rest My Case

In answer to the original question, as long as the words Den, Vince or Fast Jenn (who I suspect is Vince in disguise) are not brought up, this thread should be OK....

Big Al,

"What is the general consensus as to the best "turnkey" Cobra available."

I drive a GD (Gardner Douglas), so naturally that's the best :-)

Other great Turnkeys would be DAX (although they don't build them themselves, Dave Brookes is your man).
