Alloy wheel prices / specs.
Discussion
OK so it's not exactly kitcars, but you guys know your stuff, so advice please.
I've just ordered a citroen C2 HDI furio, (don't laugh), I think should look the biz' and give me the Mpg I need...the only thing I wish it had was Alloys. Yes I know that Citroen sell them , but I just can't afford / or warrant £120 per wheel!
I was in Halfords / ripspeed yesterday and they were doing 4 Very nice wheels for £175!! (no tyres), I planned to swap the 15" tyres off the furio straight onto some alloys, but how can I find out the correct spec for wheel offset etc?
I know the C2 VTR /VTS have 16", but I'm happy to stick with my 15"s (cheaper tyres for the high miles I do...and already fitted when I get the car, so less expense).
If anyone has any ideas, I assume the offset would be the same on 15s to the VTR 16s??? Also, is this a good deal? anyone know of other bargains?
Many thanks for any help.

IIRC the C2 VTR/VTS has 16x6.5" wheels fitted with 195 tyres. I think you'll find most 15" wheels are 15x7" so would require a greater offset than the standard ones to bring them further into the wheel arches and thus inline with where the standard ones would sit. I have no idea what the standard offset is for Citroens I'm afraid but I'm sure someone will.
Your best bet is to talk to someone like TyreSave (www.tyresave.co.uk) who know their stuff. I got the wheels for my Tiger from them.

Have a look through the small ads, you will find loads of alloys for sale second hand, I used to have a VTR and the first thing most do is change the alloys for bigger better ones and flog the standard alloys for whatever money they can get.
Halfords do some very good cheap alloys exactly right for Kit cars or your new purchase.

This info may help you determine your wheel offset: www.turner-auto-design.com/wheeltech.htm
If not, drop me an e-mail and I'll send you a 'cut-away' picture of a wheel with the relevant measurments.

If you're going to buy new Matt then any good wheel manufacturer/supplier should have the information to provide correct offset wheels for any popular production car.
Just tell them the size you want, what they're going on and they should provide wheels to fit.
I suppose the key words are "any GOOD supplier", I've only tried Halfords so far, and with their staff I like to tell them what I want, not seek their advice.

Even Halfords should be okay for this as they just look it up in a big book. The trouble might be that their books may not have been updated for the C2 just yet.
Alternatives would be to speak to the wheel manufacturer directly, or even try Citroen. Although judging by my experiences with Citroen, I wouldn't hold out too much hope on that account.
What really confuses people is when you start asking for a 17" wheel to fit a Metro.
