Huddersfield Students show us their modern 7 concept

Rancid. And I'd love to see it pass an SVA!

looks great, I'd guess budgetary constraints have hampered some of the more imaginative original ideas. It might be good to see how production changes like mudguards and legally acceptable lighting affect the design, but on the whole it looks like a good effort, Id certainly rather buy this than one of the seven clones.
I like the idea of bringing the '7' idea up to date a bit, I can also see why the designers and Westfield had 'differences of opinion' about it....
The front 3/4 view makes it look like it was made out of an old tin bath.
Not very imaginative really (was this the design we voted for back in December?).

Uuurrrrghhh!
Retro rairly sems to work (morgan aero 8 anyone) either stick with what you've got or properly modernise it - i.e build a new car.
When will these charcoal weilding art types realise that aerodynmaics not only produces the fastest cars but also the best looking ones? I hope they choke on their own post modernism!

Interesting.... it has both its good and its bad pointd. Not a bad overall design, showing one avenue of thought on the old '7' idea. First thing I'd do is lose those ruddy side vents. Fake vents look naff and '70s and I know thayr'e not real vents because the last thing that '7' driversneed is more cockpit ventilation. Of course this would leave it looking VERY slab-sided but perhaps the body or wheelarches could be sculpted in to break up the line a bit. Perhaps lowering the front by a slight making the side-runners along the top of the bonnet follow more the bonet profile. This would help make a more aggressive stance andwould break up the "bathtub" look of the current design. From the rear 3/4 however its looking pretty food. Would love to see it with a Screeen, guards and a carbonfibre hardtop, as i think this design would lend itself to it more than the existing 7s. Perhaps the rollover bars could look more integrated as well?
I like it. Putting the fuel tank in the centre of the car (rather than hanging out the back waiting to be ruptured in a rear end impact) is a good idea.
I also like the styling. It's a lot smoother and more modern looking, without completely losing sight of the original.
Not sure about the lip round the front of the car though.

It would be good to be able to buy an updated looking 7, but although this looks good, it is not futuristic enough. Being student designers they should not have such a constraint on them as ones who are in the industry. A bit more radical looking please. I'm getting fed up with all the cars looking so similar today....people can do better.

Looks more like a project in designing something they could build easily rather than state of the art design.
The comment that "...Colin Williams having worked at TVR in their design department", was he responsible for the backend of the Tamora by any chance?
