I need some help with an atlas live axle for my Rush.

I have recently tried to change my CWP from 3.75:1 to 3.09:1.
When the pinion refused to come out, I brought the whole axle to my local Ford dealer for removal of the pinion.
They got it out, after putting it under the press with 15tons and 2 hours constant pressing.
The problem is, the back bearing of the pinion was damaged in the process. (Surprise!)

I also buggered the oil seal up earlier when I tried to remove the pinion at home.
Ford wants 55 pound plus VAT for the bearing.
But they are unable to get the oil seal. This is no longer produced by Ford.

My question to you guys:
Where can I get a usable oil seal and bearing second hand?
The axle is from a 2.8 Capri. (or so I believe)

And one more, how does one adjust the gap between pinion and center wheel, if it has to be adjusted at all?

Cheers
Peter

Try BRT Bearings - they used to have a branch in Scunthorpe which may be the nearest for you. Haven't had any contact with them for about 4 years so not sure of branch details now, but if you have any difficulties their head office is Wisbech.

A local bearing stockist (see Yellow Pages) can probably match the bearing if you can take them the original.

As for the seal, again, ask bearing stockist or try a company specialising in old Ford parts like Newford Parts Centre (see classics or Fast Ford type mags).
