GT40 Build Manual
Discussion
Hello
I am soon to be to be ordering my self a Southern GT40 replica which is all very exciting I would like to do a bit of pre-build swatting but unfortunately SouthernGT do not produce a build manual for their cars , although they very are local and have promised excellent support for novices like myself (they may just regret that ).
Now I know that other manufactures kits are likely to be very different in respect to the layout, build order and components used but I would still love to have a good read through one just to give me a bit more insight and see if there are any things I have not even considered yet to be aware of?
Sooooo, a bit of a favour to ask if any kind person has a build manual they could email me I would be very grateful preferably for a space frame version but anything would be great
Cheers
Paul

Paul,
I'm sure I downloaded the old GTD build manual a while ago I will see if I can locate it. You will not go far wrong with Mick and a Southern GT. I am proving the saying if I can build one anyone can, albeit somewhat slowly.
You could also try posting a request your soon to be most visited site http://www.gt40s.com/forum/.
Regards
Nick
P.S. Great car collection, love the thought of your 40 sat next to a Morris Minor convertible. brilliant

That would be great thanks, I had considered posting on GT40s but I'm sure certain manufacturers/sponsors would give me an ear full I'm sure I downloaded the old GTD build manual a while ago I will see if I can locate it. The ERA manual is available as text only at
http://www.erareplicas.com/download.htm
or you can, for a small fee, get a manual with pictures.
SPF used to have an owners manual online too. Not a build manual, but a useful reference all the same.

That one will have to be done via subterfuge and unmarked brown paper envelopes

Getting there...
To be honest the lack manual is not a major thing, there is so much help out there in the GT40 community and directly from Southern GT any questions you have will get answered and any problems you face will have been faced before and someone will advise and have photos of how they’ve done it.
In fact the beauty of the SGT is the lack of a manual, it makes every car unique as the are many many ways to skin a cat...
Not to mention best space frame chassis available in the UK by a country mile.
If you PM me I do have some manuals from a few manufacturers but they’re not that much use...

Great job! And thanks! I just PM ed you.
I envy you that you are at this stage already! Did you count the total cost? And what are your specs?
Cheers,
Ramon
Ps. Do you have a build blog?
Thanks Ramon, when I next fire up the laptop I’ll get them over to you...I envy you that you are at this stage already! Did you count the total cost? And what are your specs?

I do have a build log here:
https://www.gt40s.com/threads/southerngt-number-18...
And there is one running in PH readers cars too.
Total cost is somewhere between £35-40k at this stage.
