Can anyone advise on the IMOLA???
Discussion
Hi
Has anyone either built, driven or had a look at the Imola by AM Sportscars??
It looks like a tidy kit and I really wanna start mucking around building a kit car but I want it to be somthing decent that I can drive around on a daily basis as well as maybe take on the track. Overall is it a decent kit cuz it certainly looks the part???
Also, what's insurance like for normal road driving on kit cars such as this... All things considered it's running on a fairly normal 2L block..... ATM I'm driving a 1.6L Ford Esc... insurance little over a grand but I'm only 20 and passed my test in August 2001.... so is it a silly idea (financially) to be even thinking of building such a car to drive around normally so early on in my driving career???
Cheers
Pete

I wouldn't worry about insurance, kit car builders/drivers are considered low risk as they put so much effort into them. I am fighting hard about getting a production car (911) as the insurance gets silly!
To give you an idea, I run a Chesil speedster with Impreza turbo engine and Porsche running gear (www.ricola.co.uk), 0-60 in about 4 seconds, and my insurance is only £300, unlimited mileage, agreed value, protected no claims, drive any other car, european breakdown cover etc etc. For me to insure a 1.4 Fiat Tipo the price doubles, and that's for tpft!
I'd say go for it, I'm planning to build a phantom next...
