Yesterday I was reading the book by Chris Rees
BRITISH SPECIALIST CARS and found the Status Minipower.

Created by Brian Luff, ex lotus engineer. Great little mid-engine car but very little info on the car. Mini powered, very few examples built.

Anyone knows about the car, pictures, technical info, dimensions.

I searched the web but found very little on this car.

I did find a another car similar in concept but built in Australia, that uses the same idea as the Status Minipower , this car is currently manufactured by a company called NOTA ENGINEERING.

I think their website is www.notaengineering.com

I like a lot the design of the Status, a 70's mini 2 seater Formula car. It did have a Lotus 72 design influence.

Very nice indeed....

Hi Italo,

No info unfortunately, but I remember reading about in in Custom Car magazine way, way back. Seem to remember quite a clean looking narrow wedge shaped body.

Possibly the first car that could be regarded as a sort of updated mid-engined Lotus 7.

Always helpfull, thanks Grahambell

I did find the other name of this nice little kitcar,it was also called STATUS SYMBOL.

Ebid.co.uk is selling one of the original 8 cars produced.

type in STATUS SYMBOL by BRIAN LUFF and you will find a picture .

A modern and updated design, could really make this a perfect road/track cheap sportscar.

Very tempting idea to work on .....
