triumph rocket

Anyone seen the triumph rocket. What a beast of an engine 2.3 l inline 3 cylinder. The performance figures didn't seem too impressive at 140 BHP but I'm sure someone could improve that when they fitted it their car
My dad works for them. It's a bit of a beast of a bike, and it's very (very) heavy.
As it's been said above, it's tuned for torque, but could be fiddled with for more power, but I wouldn't like to say for sure they would last more than a few miles.
Also, being 3 cylinder, the pistons are very big, and cost a packet to get sorted if anything goes wrong!

A colleague of mine took a test ride on one last week.
He described opening the throttle as being like a scene from a sci-fi movie where the space ship goes into warp and the stars appear to smear.
Fingers crossed, there'll be one written off soon (with the rider completely unhurt). I've got a place for the engine to go.

The spec according to Triumph:
· Maximum Power 142PS (140bhp) at 5,750 rpm
· Maximum Torque 200Nm (147ft.lbf) at 2,500 rpm
· Type Liquid-cooled, DOHC, in-line 3-cylinder
· Capacity 2,294cc
· Bore/Stroke 101.6 x 94.3mm
· Compression Ratio 8.7:1
· Fuel System Multipoint sequential electronic fuel injection
· Ignition Digital - inductive type - via electronic engine management system
· Final Drive Shaft
· Clutch Wet, multi-plate
· Gearbox 5-speed
How does that compare to a 2lt Duratec and 'Busa?

Even the factory didn't know one had been built until he called them asking for some replacement parts having wrapped it round a tree - so they asked him to bring it along to the open day. Certainly an interesting project (down to about 600Kg apparently).
Did a visit there on monday thats when I first saw it. What do you reckon ferg go nice in a libra doncha think?
I've had my Rocket for 5 weeks now and it is a fantastic machiine.
Triumph have limited the power to 140bhp, but there is 185bhp available with a few minor tweaks. At the moment it is reckoned 0-60mph under 3 secs.
With the weight the handling takea a little bit of getting used to with the feet slightly forward position but it is a beatifully balanced bike with predictable control & behaviour.
