I would like to go at the Donnington kit car show this year.

Could not make it at STONELEIGH in May, but would really like to visit at least Donnington in September.

Any advice, on accomodations, on how to get there?

I found out that there is an airport and wonder how far is it from London airports.(Stansted-Luton-Gatwick) ?

Maybe renting a car and driving all the way to Donnington from London? how far and how many hours drive?

I wonder if any of you guys have any experience of the show. Is it worth it? Let me know what you think of it.

It would be a first for me, so I'm pretty excited at the idea of coming to the UK for the show.

Thanks for your help

Nottingham east midlands airport is right next to the show venue. Not sure of travel time from London airports but can you not get a flight direct to EMA try easyjet or BMIbaby. There is a hilton hotel just down the road but I'm sure you could find a nice B&B in the locale probably in donnington village itself. If you want I'll do some research on the web to see what I can find

The show is small compared to stoneleigh but very enjoyable especially on sunday when they have a track day. There are several manufacturers that offer rides around the track for a fee. Very good fun IMHO even if you're not ready to buy yet.

If you do decide to come let me know when and which day as I would like to meet you. You can e-mail me off forum if you'd prefer.

The track day is on the SATURDAY this year, so if you want to see it make sure you're there on the right day!

Adam.

You are probably looking at a 2 hour drive from Heathrow, and 1.5 hours from Luton, probably 2 to 2.5 hours from Stansted and say 45 minutes to an hour from Birmingham

As Andy has said... plenty of B&Bs in Castle Donington village, Hilton Hotel at the M1 Juction 24a (5 mins from Donington Park), but I can highly recommend this place...

www.s-h-systems.co.uk/hotels/doningto.html

It has no neighbouring properties, it is very "oldie-worldie", the guys who run it are superb hosts, and the food is excellent!

John was a customer of mine when I worked in Donington. Top bloke. You couldn't get a place any closer to the circuit, literally two minute walk and you're in the Pits area.

There are plenty of B&B's in and around Donington too, even in the village, it's only ten minutes walk to the circuit.

Thanks for the info.

I will try to get a low cost ticket all the way to Donnington.
I understand that a lot of BB are available in the Area and will surely be interested in one.

It would be nice to meet all you guys that are going to the show.

Maybe we could arrange a meeting point somewhere on saturday or sunday?

Really curious to try out a few cars and maybe could find an interesting kitcar, to drive back home in Monza, Italy!!

I would have a problem figuring out the gearbox lever???!!!!! on the wrong side for me!! .

But then It would take me a few days to drive all the way to Italy.

Spartan Andy, sort out your diary!!!!!!

Make that Saturday free!

Last years trackday at Donington was superb entertainment.... particularly the bloke in a standard Vauxhall Carlton mixing it with Porsches, Cobras and various other stupidly fast cars!

By the Way, I can still meet John at Vindicator for his other cars, maybe I could even have a go, on the track with some of his beauties ???!!! shadow and .....

Excellent show, I have been going for the last few years, although missed the last one...

Like most Kit car shows a lot depends on the weather, but there is plenty to see indoors if it does rain....

btw. It's Donnington spelt Donington.....

Quite right..... Donington is regularly mis-spelt.... A friend of mine runs a printing company, who produced a magazine for East Mids Airport..... the proof reader missed a spelling mistake, and 8,000 copies were printed with a "Feature Article" on the village of Castle Donnington :whoops:

Another regularly mis-spelt word (Particularly in the run-up to Y2K) is Millennium
