Me and my old man are thinking of getting a build it yourself kit next easter as sort of a late 21st birthday present for me.

Basically, the pre-requisites are that it has to be a Lotus 7 replica, have as close to 140bhp as possible and also cost under £10K.

My Dad charged me with the task of finding the best kit and after seeing how much is out there, I'm rather duanted.

Can any of you knowlegdeable individuals help?

Look at MK Indy and Luego Velocity in my humble opinion.

Can you get to the Newark show this weekend??

Chester Sports cars will build you a brand new Tiger Supercat fitted with a 190bhp fully reconditioned 2 litre Zetec, twin Webbers etc, for £12000 so if you go down the DIY route, (they take 2 weeks start to finish), expect to pay around £8000...

Bloody fast!! Had a test drive yesterday...

Ferg,

whereabouts would the Newark show take place (I'm not familiar with Newark apart from the one in the U.S)

Wacky,

The kit you just descibed sounds fantastic! Do you know who I can contact to get details about this kit?

Newark is in Nottinghamshire (I think) on the A1.

build an mk indy with a new r1 lump.
light ish 7 type chassis with 160bhp+ 13k revs to play with six gears on a sequencial shift and you would have a lot of change left from your 10k budget.
would be crap if you want to go touring the highlands with the family though.
