Can you guys give me some advice on everyday / track day tires.
Currently, I am using the Toyo Proxes T1S on my Dax Rush.
I am looking for something stickier for track days. The tires should be road legal or look like they are road legal. Grooved slicks maybe?

DJ01's

They rule! Especially good for light weight cars

Either that or speak to Ears Motorsport and get some secondhand slicks. They can cut a pattern into them, to make them legalish......?.... Last time cost me £20 per tyre

What size wheels do you have?

Can recommend Avon CR500 or ACB10s, or perhaps something from the Yokohama range.

The Yoko AO48s fitted to the S2 Exiges at the motorshow looked pretty special.

My brother used to run Toyo T1s on his Wesftfield, and we would scrub them in half an airfield day. He now uses Colway Formula 2 tyres - remoulded soft compond rally slicks. They are cheap (£50 or so), and give huge amounts of grip when warm and a progressive slide.
Only downsides is they don't do wet (but when do 7's?), slightly heavier than some other tyre choices, and they make a crazy whining roadnoise on very smooth tarmac.
They last for about 3 airfield days, the Toyos used to blister and peel away.
They are road legal, but the tread pattern certainly raises a few eyebrows.

I had a quick check on the web. The Colway are made up to 205/15 in the formula 2 slick version.
My car has 17-inch wheels. So that is not an option. Shame, they look the business and if they are as good as you say it would be what I am looking for.

jeremic: As above, my wheels are 17x9 back and 17x7.5 front.

atom290: The Dunlop DJ01 look interesting. I will see if I can get them locally.

What you want is a set of yokohama A032R's! I have them on my westfield. They are a road legal cut slick tyre and are available in 3 different compounds, hard, soft and super soft. Excellant tyre and last considerably after a few track days!
Chepaest place to get them is www.polleymotorsport.co.uk
Hope this helps

heard that the best bit was the curve of the contact patch. As you suspension works the contact patch stays constant.

Hi Mike
The A032R is only available in two sizes for the 17 inch wheel, 255/40 and 275/40. No front tire size for my Rush!
However, the A048R is available in sizes fitting the Rush.
Has anyone got some experience with the Yokohama A048R ? They come in two compounds, M for colder and MH for warmer temperature. I would assume that M is the right choice for the weather in the UK.
Any feedback on this tire is appreciated.

Peter

Bit old (1999), but interesting comparison on slicks, ACB10's and A032R's on a Caterham...
