Hey guys, not sure what size fuel tank to get for a Westfield XTR2 with a hayabusa engine. I want to avoid the standard tank due to space issues. Also, I think it would be too big for my needs.

Building mainly for fun but want to enter in a few races over time. Looks like i'll need enough fuel for races around 20 minutes long with a max length of around 30 miles.

So, what MPG figures are the bike engine people getting? I'll be spending pretty much all the time at race speed (I hope!) but any info will be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance! thumbup

I got around 12mpg from both my BEC's on trackdays, one was a 929cc injected fireblade, the other was a zx10r, so expect around that sort of mpg for the busa.

we went down to Goodwood FOS in mine and think we worked out i was getting about 12/15MPG and that's on the road with ZX14 power

slighty off topic i didn't know the XTR was a kit, ho hum. what kind of money are you looking at to build one as i've seen one for sale on here for about 15k and it's nicely spec'd up

Don't think Westfield are still supplying the XTR-2 as a kit; doesn't seem to be listed on the website.

Thanks for all the replys, just what I was looking for! thumbup

I think Woody is right in saying that they don't supply it anymore, not even sure how it was supplied. Mine is an ex race car that came as a pile of stuff biggrin

Edit: No idea on the final cost! Came with most of the parts required (minus decent engine) for 7k, needs a lot of TLC and found loads of changes I want to make so who knows. I was trying to buy a Westfield seven and I saw this! lol

Thanks again guys.

Are you sure that's right? My Busa gets around 25MPG on the road and more on motorway driving. Did a 200mile motorway journey to santapod and back and got 36mpg cruising at 60 all the way (5000 rev.) I realize it would go way down on track...

To be fare at the time my mate behind in his MK said mine was running rather rich (dodgy map), now i run PCV with Autotune i guess it would be a lot better now. but also were wern't hanging about once on the B roads.

Westfield stopped taking orders for the XTR2 & XTR4 at Christmas last year weeping

Most were supplied as kits although some, like mine, were factory built.

Unfortunately the XTR2Forum has shut down which would have been a great help in your build/rebuild.

Many of the XTR2Forum refugees can be found here or over on the WSCC Forums if you have specific questions that we may be able to help you with.

Good Luck biggrin

In my Fury R1 I have averaged ~24mpg during hard road and track use over the last 4-5 years. Pretty good considering my Subaru Impreza Turbo only averaged 22mpg over a similar period of road use only.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I’m away in France for a few days in my newly built Sylva 15 hayabusa and averaged 44mpg over 580 miles so far! Can’t be trying hard enough! Heading home tomorrow.
