Python on Totalkitcar.com
Discussion
Just thought I should let anyone that was interested that Steve Hole has the First Test of the Python Demo car up on his site (eventhough it was not totally complete)at www.totalkitcar.com

I'm going to throw a spanner in the works. I don't get it....I thought the article was pointless. It didn't tell you anything much beyond that the car actually exists.
Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against the car itself (I think the use of BMW mechanicals is a sound move) I just think all this debacle has prompted a rather rushed article. The fact that it looks like its finished in red oxide primer, hardly any interior to speak of and seemingly a different style of wheel on each corner doesn't inspire me one bit.
Better to have waited until it was more sorted IMO.
Cheers, John

Fair comment John, but the feature did actually say, and I quote......
"Sadly the demonstrator isn’t quite finished and I only have a chance to go for a little drive, but this is enough to convince me that the Python is for real"...........
Mmmmmmm!
So around 900kg with those wheels, next to no interior, no front bumper and in need of a fair bit of trim.
How will the final weight work out compared to the original estimates quoted in an earlier thread?
Also why couldn't Steve drive it properly. A set of trade plates will have allowed the car out on the public roads. Are there other reasons why he couldn't drive it?

Some of the comments are getting harsher I see.
I doagree the review didn't say too much, but it will be nice to see the finished car at Newark and a full report as soon as the car is ready (by Steve again, of course).
Steve did point out one of Den's main objections too. The car will never be featured in an unbiased way in WK? when they are also acting as the UK sales agent. IMO that can only hurt sales.

Still sounds like a pointless exercise from where I'm standing. Not so much about the car more of the company background which was quite interesting.
'Python - back with a bite(!?!)' (finally)
Also correct that Which Kit? are going to love it and I think TotalKit Car are trying to come across too much as the only unbiased Kit car mag and ALL of them are trying to beat each other to the first road test etc.. which leads to pointless articles like the one under discussion.
Fed up with Kit Car mag politics.

Hear hear.
Having said that, the petty politics don't stop at the magazines. There appears to be major squabbles and attitude problems with some of the manufacturers as well.
I have experienced horrendous attitudes as a potential purchaser(!)

Actually, I'd have to agree with Meeja.
When I was doing the rounds at the shows and ringing the factories the difference is immense.
I think Birkin have to have the most professional stand at the shows and the kit is great but overpriced.
I went for a Dax and they were more relaxed and friendly but there have been a few niggles from the owners club that they are more interested in new customers than existing builders. Time will tell. Also they were more that uncomplementry about another cobra kit at last years Stoneleigh show ( and it wasn't the Python)!

Good job you haven't seen Den's latest rant then in the "Cobra" section of this months "Kit car".......
Worth buying alone imo for the pic of a young Den in his University cap and gown....
Aha.... reading it now.....
(Sitting at my desk, with a copy of KC mag hidden inside a copy of "Broadcast" magazine... whcih I can happily read at work without getting any bother!)

Read it last night. Thought it was a good honest account from Den to be fair. He does seem to have been messed about. He also made it clear it was the misleading advertising he was highlighting and not the quality of the car which is commendable in my eyes. The industry can do without that sort of collaberation between companies and magazines.
Den's pic was rough wasnt it?
