2005 Aston Martin DB9 Coupe Manual
Discussion
The July 2025 invoice from Chilton Aston does not give a service procedure breakdown beyond new door struts, wiper blades and driver's door end cap re-fitted. The job total was £1463.74. I believe the service element was paid with a warranty contribution of £1059.16 - hence the lack of service details on the customer invoice copy.
I hope that helps
It's a beautiful car that I bought on impulse. I'm really a Porsche guy and I now have the opportunity to buy a Peridot Green Cayman R with manual box and bucket seats - that is my dream!! So I now need both the room and the finance. There is really nothing wrong with this car - I'm just a very impulsive buyer and change cars regularly - it's a hobby and hobbies cost money......
Just having had a look round the car at today’s Pistonheads event I noticed quite a few small areas of corrosion, which these cars are prone to, but I couldn’t see any mention of them in the description. Have you had any estimates for remedial paintwork to correct these?
The areas I spotted are as follows:
Offside rear wheel arch body where it meets rear bumper
Offside rear roof line where it meets rear glass and panel joint
Nearside rear quarter panel where bodywork meets bumper
Nearside wheel arch where it meets sill trim - very small
Offside drivers door where it meets base of wing mirror
Offside mirror base on underside

I would have preferred to have known about these areas, especially as I drove to the Bicester Motion event purely to see your car. I’m now already back in Kent after 4.5 hours of driving and a wasted entry fee, all of which would have been avoided had the corrosion been mentioned. It is after all the buyers prerogative to determine what is acceptable and what isn’t based on their own set of requirements and expectations, and one can only make a judgement about a vehicle if all the pertinent information is provided. There is no downside to a potential buyer knowing in advance about bubbling paint, yet there is a significant downside potential if it is only discovered post purchase. Pistonheads should have mentioned this rather than expect someone to either ask the question or spot it on inspection, especially as this is an online auction and most bidders will not have been able to view the car in person. I took their description at face value, but won’t do so again.
If you were aware of these areas beforehand (which you intimate), you could have asked beforehand and had close-up photos provided. As it was, the Petrolheads team on site could not fathom your complaints. It is nit-picking in the extreme. If you want a brand-new car I suggest you buy a brand-new car.

Clive-u88p0,Having spent the entire day with the car, the overwhelming feedback from those who saw it was how exceptional the original paintwork looked, with many commenting on its condition and how fantastic the car presented. The depth of colour, consistency of shade and, particularly, the remarkable lack of swirling were repeatedly noted. California Sage is always a favourite!
To those considering bidding, I can report that these blemishes are extremely minor.
It is disappointing that you did not raise these areas of concern with us during the day, particularly given that at least two members of the auction team were within 10 metres of the car at any given point.
Following your comments, both the seller and I, along with my manager, have personally inspected the areas in question. Having done so, we remain satisfied that they are minor and do not detract from the overall exceptional condition and presentation of the car.

Why did you travel all the way to see the car in the flesh if you thought there was a 0% chance of blemishes and every minute detail would be outlined in the description?Complete contradiction.
If you had this complaint after winning the car at auction I'd understand.
I assume you don't plan on bidding for the car now? Or is this just an attempt to talk down the car in hope of getting it for a cheaper price?
