The ad doesn't mention that the 997 comes with original PCCM as the original Porsche Sound Plus audio equipment in the car, as seen in the photos. We did replace the Apple CarPlay that was in the car when we purchased it - and this will be included in the sale if you'd rather go 'new school'.
Details of that head unit are here:

Hi Nigel
To my knowledge it has never had a bore scope. It has however had oil analysis at major service interval with no signs for concern (at least where we're concerned!). Usual give aways of excessive carbon on exhaust tips, smoking at turn over, ticking/knocking etc are non present at all here.

Lengthy research before we decided on this 997, revealed the 3.8 had thinner cylinder walls and longer stroke, making them more susceptible... but still pretty uncommon.
All said, I'm more than happy if you wanted to arrange a borescope yourself to put your own mind at ease.

I hope this helps and thanks for your interest.
Andy

Hi Andy

I have had several Targa versions of the 911.
Several had roof rattles and the worst had to repace the whole Targa roof mechanism.
I know this will be sold as seen and not perfect 100% but could you let me know regards the roof:
Does it open smoothly?
Have you had any specific problems with it?
Targa's always have a bit of flexing and resultant annoying squeaking or worse rattle, whats your opinion on yours?

Thanks

Nick

Hi Nick - thanks for your message.
It was the roof that attracted me to this iteration of the 997 and yes - we saw several including one that jammed diagonally whilst the seller was demonstrating it... so you can imagine the trepidation we had viewing any further.
Then this one came along - with both targa roof motors replaced in 2022 with a full a service to the mechanism (documentation to prove). It work smoothly, precisely and pretty much silently.
In terms of squeaking - yes, we did have quite a bit whenever winter came and panels contracted - until we were given a golden tip by our porsche specialist and wiped silicon grease on all rubber elements of the roof mechanism... only ever needed it to do it once and squeaks and rattles were gone!

BTW - a little jealous that you've had several Targas.

Andy

Please can I ask two questions:
1. Are you using the Concierge service, and if not then should I be the highest bidder would it be possible to collect the car on return home (N Cumbria) from the Canary Islands 10-11 December?
2. Would it be fair to assume tyres will be needed in the next few thousand miles?

Hi.
No we're not using the concierge service but you would be more than welcome to collect on your return home if you end up purchasing the car.
And yes, a pretty fair assumption I think.

Thanks for taking an interest.

Thanks Andy,
Just to clarify, in the event of being highest bidder I'd immediately pay the 6%+VAT. I was just concerned we wouldn't have much time to organise payment for the car while on our cruise with limited internet etc.
It would be around 10-11 Dec I'd be heading to you to pay and collect if that would be ok.
I imagine it would be a CHAPS payment that's needed, which I haven't done in a while but assume it can be arranged fairly quickly.
If you can confirm this is ok or otherwise I'll stop worryingsmile
Thank you 👍 🙏

Hi.
Thanks for clarifying your position. Ideally we expect to take payment for the car from the winning bidder during the remainder of this week and for it to be collected shortly after - we've not arranged anything over our weekend as yet to accommodate the winning bidder's collection - just in case they have a bit of a journey .

We would however be happy to garage the car for you until Dec 11th if you were to win, but would require payment by the end of this week... at the same point you pay the auction fee?
I hope to see you continue bidding but understand if that's not viable for you!

Thanks Andy - understood. I think it's going to be a bit too tricky for me with the circumstances/timing but good luck with the sale 👍
