Has the rod bearings been changed or chassis been checked on rear as they tend to rip them apart

The rear subframe has been reinforced. I don't know about the rod bearings, but I will try and check.

It is post conrod recall, which was cars upto Feb 2002. This car is September 2002. It doesn't use oil and there is no 'knocking' on startup or at any other time. Also, conrods failed before 30k miles.
