Nice car; as an owner of a longhood; 1971 911T I really like this. The 911S was more than a swap to MFI, cam and cylinder heads were also revised. What was this beauty's original colour? Looks like a great driver.

It left the factory as Light Ivory (white) - as shown on the Kardex.

The engine has all of the S spec parts - 69S pistons, biral cylinders, 69S heads, as well as the MFI system, its running GE40 / Mod-S cams which give a better wider power band than the factory S cams.

Is it a reflection in the pic, or are there signs of under-paint rust to the rear wing in front of the rear wheels? Was it a bare metal re-spray and were any elements of bodywork plated as part of this work? Not being rude - but early models were renowned for rust issues

Hello Philip

I believe this must be a reflection in the picture but im not sure which picture(s) you are referring to, there are a lot. If you can clarify which picture number(s) or the specific area I can take some more close up photos and post, alternatively I can just take some additional photos and hope to cover the area you are interested in?

The car was painted years before I bought it in the 90s, I do not know the specific ins and outs of the paint work but I do not believe it was a bare metal respray and would not assume anything was plated. I was told the car was garaged and only used on rare occasions from 1975 until the early 90s when it was dismantled and laid up permanently until 2020.

Hi,

The ad mentions blistering, can you elaborate on that please and give the location of them?

Is there much corrosion on the car, are the kidney bowl areas solid on both sides?

Hello, theres 2x blisters on the bonnet about the size of a 1p coin, its not caused by rust or by damage on the underside, its just where the paint has lifted for some reason thats not obvious, it has not got any worse during my ownership.

Theres another blister on top of the O/S rear wheel arch where the wheel has rubbed the underside of the arch under spirited cornering. The ride height was probably set a bit too low, it has since been raised on the adjustable spring plates.

I would say there is little to no corrosion on the car. It hasnt seen a wet road in decades. The kidney bowls are rock solid. I cant get a good photo of the drivers side bowl because the front oil cooler pipes obscure the view bit it is just as good as the passenger side.

What a beautiful classic 911..
The pictures probably don't do it justice..
Reminds me of the Steve McQueen Le Man's opening sequences where he's in a similar looking 911...

Hello Clip

I got married last year and bought a house, which needs a lot of work.

I have decided I'd rather sell it and get cheaper weekend car that I can use more and at the same time put some money into the house project that I need doing. Obviously I'd much rather keep it, especially as it has taken me a long time and a huge amount of effort to get it to where it is with all the desirable modifications. Im well aware that once I sell this car and move down the "car ladder" I will never be able to get in the longhood game again which is very sad, as I dont think anything will come close to replicating a flat six MFI engine at 7k. But I will have to try and find something!

Hi

Thanks for your response. As I live in London and came into this auction opportunity rather late, can you let me know if anyone has been on a test drive and given any feedback?

Hello. John did a viewing yesterday, we went for a test drive that went perfectly. He seemed happy with it to me and he said he was a 30yr Porsche club member and has owned several 911s. He has posted his phone number in one of the above messages. He certainly didn’t give any negative feedback. The main thing he said was that the car was “what he expected with no surprises” to which I take it as meaning it is accurately described and photographed. I could possibly try and take a video of me driving the car tomorrow if that would help. It would be weather dependent though etc.

Hi… thanks for describing how John viewed the vehicle when you went out for a test drive… It would be useful if you were able to take a video of you driving it tomorrow (weather permitting) that would be helpful thank you.
