Hi, when were the spark plugs last changed? Looking at the Service Stamps seems to be awhile ago. Also, what were the Ceramic Disk Wear Readings at last service/health check? Thanks

Good afternoon, I have just spoken to Aston Martin Brentwood. The last time the car had plugs was 14/06/2019 when it had new coils and spark plugs fitted, at 50,307 miles. The last health check in April 21 stated the front pads 6mm and rear 4mm, half worn, they stated that the ceramic discs don't wear unless you're racing the car on track in sandy conditions. So normal road use is minimal wear. When I wash the car I cant see any wear in the discs. This car has been in storage for two years.Hope this helps.

Many thanks Dean for calling Brentwood. I agree very few of these would have been on track, but ceramic Discs do wear over time, especially if pads are not changed at 50% wear. The front pads were last changed in 2017 looking at papers, when were the rear pads changed? Also passenger seat, are those stains on Alcantara or just the way it’s been brushed? Thanks

Hi JJ77, Its the Alcantara shading there no stains on the seat. To be honest in the 10 years I've owned the car covering 25,000 miles,I would say 500 miles of those has had a passenger in that seat. I used to clean the car Saturday morning and take it for a drive down the A120 to the M11, down the M11 to M25 around to the A12 and back to Braintree, which was 80 ish miles. All 70mph roads, so use to cruise, and brake use was minimal.I don't think I have ever replaced the rear pads, The car has to be serviced if purchased, and rear pads will be replaced by me.

AM ceramic disks are tested for wear by taking them off and weighing them. I’ve never heard of that being done as part of a service or health check.

Yes that’s correct, but an Aston Martin dealer, one would hope, that they could see if the discs needed replacing before they weighted them.

When in bought mine, it had done 11k miles. I was concerned about ceramics having not had them before and being a bit worried about the cost per corner.

The AM dealer explained to me that for normal road driving the disks should last close to 100k miles. Track driving is a very different proposition. The discs are, IMO, far more likely to get damaged by having a car cleaner who doesn’t realise they are ceramics and sprays them with regular wheel cleaner. I just forget all about them now. It’s natural for people to worry about getting a huge bill to replace them but as I say, unless they’ve been used hard on track the chances are that they will never give an owner any trouble.

I’m not sure that a dealer can tell if they have regular wear other than by weighing them. Cracks, yes: those should be visible. But otherwise why even check them for wear unless you think the owner is a track addict?

Yes I was too when I brought this! This car has never had any wheel cleaner on them! I think I’ve only had this car washed maybe a couple of times by a hand car wash! I’ve always cleaned it myself for this reason!
