1989 Porsche 944 S2
Discussion
I was wondering why the description of your Porsche 944S2 in this auction seems to have the wrong performance specs.
It states 190 BHP; when it was in fact listed as 208 bhp, and that was known to be an understatement at the time, many independent testers finding it between 212 and 230bhp
Also the 0-60mph time you quoted is 7.9 seconds when its actually 6.4 ( Even the 924 S2 could beat that and that only had the 2.5 engine) and the top speed was 150 not 140 mph ( again the 2.5 924S2 had a top speed of 137 mph!). I had a 944S2 for 4 years between 2001 and 2005; and I had 160 mph on the clock in Germany between Frankfurt and Koln on one occasion before my wife woke up and the "limiter" kicked in!!
Stripped down in competition mode yours should be even faster.
Can you advise where you got the figures quoted?

Hi Cerberos, this is Dave from the PistonHeads auction team...! Many thanks for the great insightful data on the 944. I myself had a 2.7 Lux back in the day and they certainly went really well...! With regards to the data this is auto populated from the vehicle data look up we use, and sometimes we do find instances where it does not pull back the data as it should do, especially on the great cars from this era. Thanks for sharing your knowledge, we will have a dig into the data and update it accordingly..!
Best wishes

Hi, the Porsche inspection from 2022 mentions "play in both front struts, oil leak from nsr driveshaft diff seal, power steering leak from cooler and pipes, engine oil leaks". Can you confirm that these issues have been resolved?
Apologies if I've missed it somewhere in the paperwork.
Cheers,
Will

Hey Tann2k,
The driveshaft seal sweats very slightly but Porsche confirmed it was something to monitor but no replacement was suggested at the time.
The front end was all tightened up and has not been brought up again in future garage visits.
The coolant leak was solved (again only sweating). The oil leaks also solved but both should be monitored especially if driven hard regularly due to the nature and age of the car. The car doesn’t burn oil or require topping up but advisable to check when you fuel up.

Regarding the LSD the original options list does not include code 220. However I will check the aftermarket work and get back to you.
Being honest it’s never something I checked as the car has incredible balance. Rear end grip in the dry is plentiful and pushing it hard our of corners on a damp track day its very playful with easy to manage oversteer.
