My grandson is in his first year of competitive rallying and recently entered a special stage rally which was to run into darkness. We fitted a pod with four PIAA lamps to his car. We were advised NOT to wire the lamps through the dipped headlight circuit. The reason, sensibly, is because if the headlights blow a fuse you loose ALL of your driving lights. Also in misty/foggy conditions it is safer to switch off headlights and drive on fog lights only.
When he went into scrutineering they were going to fail his car because his aux's did not go out when headlights were dipped.
After a long discussion they agreed to let him compete. (He actually won best in class)
Can anyone tell us where in the MSA Blue Book does it say that axillary lights HAVE to be wired to the headlight dip circuit for special stage rallies in order that we can alter the wiring or he can have his answer ready for future scrutineering?
We would welcome any comments/opinions.

Thanks E-B that sounds a good alternative. Can you recommend a suitable switch for the job?
