Best rally car of all time

This isnt a poll to see what the best is results wise, but in your opinion, what do you think is the best, and why??


I am going for the stratos, as being the best purpose built rally car, and for being that difficult to tame, only Sandro Munari could tame it properly. Oh, and having that engine in it.

The Delta Inegrale. As a boy it was my favourite car to watch. In full wide arch evoII mode it is pornographic. And it is the turbonutter rally car I want most.

For serious rally cars, I'd say Stratos or RS200.

The Audi Quattro, for producing one of the most blood curdling noises I've ever heard, spine tingling. The Metro 6R4 would be a close second.

Or, if you want something a bit more current, Andy Burton's Peugeot Cosworth. It sounds much much better than any WRC car. Sadly, the Motorsport Strangulation Association have killed it off from the end of this season.

I'm not sure the quattro has it for 'The best rally car of all time'... It conquered in Group 4, because it was ‘the first of the breed’, but struggled and was finally swamped in Group B...

The cars that demonstrated even stronger characteristics in there respective classes must be the T16, the Intagrale, the Escort Cosworth, the Subaru Impreza and the Mk2 Escort... The quattro is an icon, but it changed the rules rather than conquered them.

Close second has to be the 124 Abarth. Not very successful but stunning to look at.
