Not sure how much time he gets in the cars or if he was really trying; bit of a mare for Kalle but at least the championship looks more like a match than it really is.
JML hadn't driven the car in any meaningful sense before his pre-event test. For sure he wasn't pushing to the limit, but he wasn't just out for a Sunday drive either. It was quite entertaining to see him back out!Anyone else think Elfyn appeared to have a new found confidence ? In interviews and his driving, on the coverage I've seen it looked so precise & controlled despite setting 10 fastest times, winning by quite a margin and taking the power stage.
He obviously felt at one with the car https://www.crash.net/wrc/news/1033019/1/winning-r...
That's how it seemed.
Well done Elfyn.

Hopefully this event does wonders for Taka and Elfyn. I think if Kalle was still in the event he'd have been 30s to a minute ahead of Elfyn though so it's worth keeping in mind that he won by others not finishing as opposed to winning because he had the outright speed.
Greece is going to be a tough one for Kalle, leading the pack where it's going to be a heavy penalty to be first on the road.

That's been suggested by pundits in reports I saw, the consensus was he'd be in a battle with him
We'll never know but Kalle had 5 seconds on Elfyn up to that point and was winning every stage despite being at the disadvantage of leading the pack. Given both their performance over the last 2 years I struggle to see how Elfyn would have been able to keep up. Of course it'd be in all of our interests if Elfyn has suddenly found another level in his performance as we'd love to see him keeping Kalle honest! In other news Seb Ogier confirmed he's participating in Greece!
Thought it was one of Elfyn’s best performances. All the focus and pressure on him, and it was a totally flawless weekend. Can’t tell what would have happened if Rovenpera stayed on the road, but that’s just “what ifs”. Can’t see the title changing hands, but should make the rest of the season slightly more interesting.

What's called Rally TV?
WRC+ live streaming platform (which was also being used for ERC coverage via their own website) has been rebranded as 'Rally TV', I presume with everything accessed through the same website now. And Rallycross too.I'll be watching some of this weekends ERC round so I guess I'll find out then if anything significant has changed.

Fourmaux wins, and makes it 4/4 in the BRC; though there are rumours that's it for him this season. The final round is a 'double points' so he can be over hauled for the title.
Looks like Kopecky is going to win another Barum Rally Zlin; championship leader, Paddon out after ripping his right rear off......

I'm glad somebody else brought this up, as I've seen it mentioned elsewhere. There were hardly any mainland drivers going over to Ulster......
I think at the moment, most UK drivers are just happy with a one day 45 mile event. Anything else costs more and/or requires time off work........And the BRC isn't what they want.....
I really have no idea what the solution is......

I've no idea either, but I observe that the Protyre BTRDA tarmac (2+ days inc recce) and SRC (6 Forest 1 day rallies and 2 closed road 2 day inc recce) are both well supported. It seems that they both have a good set up where the crews, organisers, sponsors, locals and media are well integrated.
I think the BTRDA Forest champ still gets lots of crews?
Both Mull and Rali Ceredigion have attracted less-than-full entries so far. I reckon Ceredigion will be well-supported financially without full reliance on entry fees. For Mull, I wouldn't be sure that their current entry level is sustainable.
So - things are patchy all over. Who knows where it's going?
