Rather than swap the tyres I was thinking of buying a set of tyres & wheels and swap them myself every Winter like they do on the continent.. mostly for the annual ski trip where I once had a very lucky escape on regular road tyres.

Porsche approved come in at around £4K +/- 15% depending on spec.

Does anyone have experience or insight into a better value option?

I’d ring around a few dealers and see what they have in stock. A couple of years ago I did just this and picked up some for £2,600 against list of £4,200. They really seem to be able to discount these at will if lying around in stock (my were from JCT). Probably not the best time of year…
Could also check online market place for 2nd hand?

Have been contemplating this myself since buying the car 2yrs ago, but the designs of the winter wheels are pretty rubbish (appreciate beauty is in the eye of the beholder) and larger winter tyres are considerably more expensive and wider wheels/tyres starts to defeat the point of winter tyres.

Also, over the last two winters I haven't really felt the car to be dangerous running on normal tyres. Sure, the tyres are less grippy in winter...but as long as you're not doing your best Ayrton Senna it's all manageable.

I'd still like some for if/when we get proper coverings of snow (not really happening in the last two winters where we are)....but have yet to pull my finger out and make a choice.

Na…. Really does impact steering feel and handling more than you’d think for 8 months of year. Better spending a couple of grand and having the best option. The winters are staggeringly good and narrower than the summer 21”s. Black ice and wide summer tyres in heavy cars…. Well one bad incident for me in a 4x4 7 years ago brought home how much risk there is. Peace of mind is worth more to me than a slightly better wheel design for 4 months of the year up here in Northumberland.

I thought the same until I tried the CC 3 Sport (not the standard 3s!).
