Looks pretty epic.. not sure about the styling on the rear tho, a bit Honda Civic.. but the rest is beautiful. Similar range to the genII Taycan and insane HP on the Turbo... 1100 bhp in launch mode is going to give you whiplash!

What a complete waste of energy! When they can give me a 1000 mile range with a 3rd of the power I might be interested,

I need/want 400+ miles range, so same as my current car, and fast charging. So this is pretty good ..... what I don't want is the size, apparently its full fat Range Rover sized.

I think this looks good, and another step forward with 400 mile range and a large cabin. We had a RRS, so this could well be the EV we have been waiting for the family.

Having had EV's that go 0-60 in under 3s, I think the standard one at 4.8s or maybe the S when they bring that out will be fine. Key thing here is range and charging speed.

Base model with a lot of kit also seems ok price wise, and makes it a better choice for us over the Macan.

Good job they make a Macan EV then. A 10 minute stop max, or even 5 mins to run to the loo while charging and it'll easily do 400 miles at motorway speeds. Same applies to the Cayenne, and most modern fast charging EV's.

If your bladder can do 400miles without discharging you're a better man than me! 250miles is about the limit of my bladder range these days.

Porsche really doubling down on EV aren't they? It's surprising in some ways that they would make a statement so strong as "the most powerful ever Porsche" being an electric one. But I guess they have to at some point go that route as the ICE cars can't realistically offer the same power numbers and Porsche have to keep pace with other marques that are putting out big power SUV's and family cars.

The rest of the EV related tech seems on point too, very fast charge speeds and an impressive 97% of braking is regen. Honestly, ten years ago I would have said that Porsche were one of the firms that would most struggle with an electric future, but they seem to have taken it very seriously, gone with it and are pushing the limits of electric performance.

Even Richard Hammond, not exactly a fan of EV's and also a Porsche purist, seems to like it. I'm aware he was hired by Porsche for this video, but it's not as if he needs the money so I assume he genuinely likes the idea of an 1100bhp Porsche super-SUV. In fact, I expect he's going to end with one on his drive as part of the deal...

I get why you think 1000 miles of range might be a good idea, but why would you want less power? Less power won't increase the range - at least not more than marginally, due to be able to fit smaller and therefore tiny bit lighter motors.

And why on earth would you ever actually need 1000 miles range? You can't drive it that long without needing to stop for other reasons, for at least long enough to rapid charge for the next stint.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the new design language that Porsche have used on all of their electric cars doesn't work for me at all. I still think my 2017 Cayenne looks better resolved than this design. But of course it's all personal.

A 2 tonne car that can go from 0-60 in 2.5s is a real weapon... in more ways than one!

Very much eye of the beholder as you say, however, when I jumped on the configurator to be met with this photo

What immediately sprung to mind was this:

Not sure they are doubling down….it is more than this has been in the works for several years so they need to try and sell some.

Pricing to me looks more competitive (against ICE Cayenne’s). The base EV Cayenne is £82k…a Cayenne GTS is £107k (GTS sounds sodding expensive!!). Macan 4 EV is £72k…Macan GTS ICE is £75k

I think they'll sell a lot, relatively easily. Obviously to the company car driver mostly... But that's fine, 3 years later they become a stupidly good bargain on the used market!!

The thing is, if you want the raw Porsche driving experience, you wouldn't buy any SUV Porsche. But... If you're well paid and simply want a Porsche badged car on your drive despite it being a family friendly SUV, then you probably don't really care what powers it - but you will care about the ease of use, smoothness and effortless power the EV version provides.

Who would actually want the ICE version now? If you're a die hard engine nut then of course you want the IC car but by the same token you should want the 911, the drivers car. If you're happy with an SUV, then the best powerplant for the SUV these days is the battery pack. The electric powertrain improves SUV's in so many ways.

Undoubtedly the tech is class leading but i'm just not gelling with the styling cues this time around. It's like PAG put a gastric band on that front-end.
