Morning all,

I have an order on a new Taycan GTS due to go into build in the next couple of months, spec to be finalised yet.... I know that mentioning the word 'discount' in Porsche would normally see you escorted from the premises but given that there seems to be a lot of new and used stock up for sale I wanted to see if anyone had managed to secure a discount on a new Taycan?

For various reasons, most people are waiting 6 months or more for a car, and the GTS in particular has an extended waiting list.

Depending on your relationship with your dealer, you might get a freebie on collection - key ring etc - but unless you time it right with a cancelled order or similar, I doubt you’ll get a penny off.

Maybe if the recession hits harder and more orders are cancelled you might be lucky, but I think for now Porsche can sell all the cars they are building and more!

Maybe if you bought one of the pre registered ones that are available as stock. They tend to be specced higher than most would consider reasonable though, so it still may not be a much better scenario.

Yes. The fact there are new physical cars at OPC’s doesn’t really matter as far as discounts go on cars built to spec if there’s a six month wait on a car build to order. If you take a stock car you might get something off. You also might if you take finance and were previously going to pay cash.

Taking finance to get a discount would not make sense ( even if it were likely) . I just paid cash for a Macan which I originally intended to PCP. With the interest rate increase, my interest payments over 4 years would have been £20 k!!

You will get a discount on a stock model, or one on order without a home. But unlikely as yet on an order. Although that might change given the negative attitude towards the Taycan at the moment.

You can settle at anytime and keep the deposit contribution though; however, don't expect the relationship with the dealer to go very well as they wont get any commission on the finance deal.

As an example I recently got a £9k deposit contribution for taking a PCP but sweet FA for cash.

True but they do impose a charge for settling early - it’s not simply paying the amount you borrowed less any payments already made. Can be several thousand pounds - “ notional interest” based on what they would have charged if the agreement had run full term.

Not necessarily a penalty as there is usually a cooling off period of 2 weeks, but depending on the contract they may take back the inducement.

Nothing in my agreement.

RRP £49,500
Trade in £21,800
Contribution £9,000
Remaining £18,700

Current settlement figure as of 5 minutes ago is £19,110

The settlement will increase with time if I let the agreement run till the end as my monthlies are just £75 per month, but I will be settling before the end after a period of time that wont come back on the dealership as I have a family connection.

That's amazing. I'm due to pick up my GT4 next week, wonder if they would offer the same deposit contribution if I take PCP....... biglaugh

Nice, I've got a GT4 coming in June too. Did you get the spec you wanted? I had a few restrictions on my build.

Do you mean monthlies are £750 per month ? At £75 per month it will take 20 years to settle! Was this deal on a Porsche by the way ?

No £74.06 per month to be precise on an approved used Mercedes (EQC to keep it slightly topical).

If I let the finance run it has a balloon of £23k so would cost me pretty much £7k in interest over 36 months!

I was offered a £1000 discount on a GTS that was cancelled and I could change the spec to my build. Could have it in 6 weeks.

After looking at the eye watering depreciation they seem to be getting an now
Looking at used. These things seem to be losing £25k plus as soon as you drive them off the forecourt

Sounds like we’re back in a normal market. The almost stealth price rises we’ve seen in the last few years make new cars look incredibly expensive to me.

The approved used site has quite a few that haven't sold in 4mths. Prices starting to be lowered gently.

I binned my order at the end of Jan. Lack of certainty on delivery, having had my deposit down for 12mths, restrictions in options and then all the issues being experienced with them killed the excitement side.

Will leave it 12mths and see what gives.

Great cars still. But Porsche not showing themselves in a great light.

They're massively overpriced from new, only supply chain issues kept them high.

All unwinding now, plenty new unregistered for sale on the PCGB site, heater and software issues must be a factor too.

And then there's the next gen of EV's just around the corner with new better battery hardware and a range of 400 miles+. No software update on 1.0 tech can get near to that.

Avoid.
