Taycan First Service Costs
Discussion
I have read elsewhere that there is a huge disparity between what different dealers are quoting.
Some are insisting drainage checks are mandatory, whilst some are not.
I’ve seen figures quoted between £400 and £1,200 from different dealers.
I’d be interested to know what people have paid at different dealers.

Mine was due a service in November and I'd love to share the price, however I booked it in August and they can't fit it in until January - seems like they're going with the Rolex approach for both new car sales and servicing at the moment.
I think it's only the pollen filter, wiper blades and brake fluid change at 2yrs though?

Two years/20,000 miles
Seems there are various components to this that some dealers insist are mandatory and without them the warranty won’t be valid if there are any later issues.
These include drainage hole checks. Removing and replacing the wheel liners to check behind them.
Checking the tyre sealant is in date!
The part costs are:
Pollen filter
Brake fluid
Washer fluid
Tyre sealant if out of date.
Pretty sure I only want the brake fluid and pollen filter option to this.

Buy the (genuine) parts and get a local garage to do the "service" - warranty intact
"How Often Should I Service My Porsche Taycan?
Porsche Taycan models require routine maintenance every 2 years or 20,000 miles.
During your routine service visit, we replace your cabin air filter to ensure you and your passenger always breathe fresh air while cruising in your Taycan. We also flush and replace your brake fluid, which maintains your stopping distance.
Alongside their maintenance schedule, Porsche Taycan owners should pay attention to the condition of essential components like tires, wiper blades, and windshield wiper fluid."

at how many miles is the first service due at and what are they doing for that sort of dosh?
A car wash mostly. I need to pay similar ludicrousness for the I-Pace service. Except I can’t get it done as they have a three month backlog due to massive amounts of engine failures. Not that it really matters with an EV. They can do the car wash this week or in three months time. You’d think they could separate out the work, though. Car washing in one lane at £400 and actual work in the other lanes. I'm having this very conversation with a OPC right now before commiting a Taycan.
Taycan service - £1,200
E-Tron GT service - circa £400 (from what I've seen on Audi sites)
Big badge mark up for what is essentially the same platform. Gutters and vents were the excuses I've been given today but I'm due to get a full breakdown tomorrow.

Porsche dealers have some of the most expensive labour rates going, especially in the south.Taycan service - £1,200

This article from 2017 had the Reading OPC charging £234 an hour, which would goa long way to explaining a £1200 for what looks like very little.

Right. You get a premium car, you pay premium prices for accessories, parts and labour. This article from 2017 had the Reading OPC charging £234 an hour, which would goa long way to explaining a £1200 for what looks like very little.

I guarantee the wage they pay their technicians doesn't vary by the same amount. Highway robbery..

Unfortunately I hate being held to ransom!
Yes quality costs and I am willing to fund my appreciation at a fair cost and coming from an engineering background I can easily work out what is fair.
Unless I win the lottery which will be never knowing my luck I will never own a Porsche.
Stuttgart please take note since I am not the only one.
I think the best strategy with these EV’s now is to buy them used, once the warranty has expired and then not bother servicing them, with the exception of brakes, brake fluid, tyres etc. That way you avoid the depreciation hit and having to go to the stealers to keep the warranty intact

Has anyone ever heard of gutters and drain hole checks being part of a service on any other car!? Even those 40 point checks you get from most manufacturers where they check brakes, tyres etc - never on that.
Definitely feels a bit like they’re recouping lost oil change money using anything they can think of. Checking drain holes for blockages is certainly helpful, but normally no one gives a toss until the carpets start getting wet or rust sets in.
But hey, I’m not at all surprised a VAG brand is playing tricks on customers.
100%. They've clearly sat down and worked out what they can do to in an attempt to justify rinsing owners for a few hours of very expensive labour.Definitely feels a bit like they’re recouping lost oil change money using anything they can think of. What depreciation? Used Taycan's have been commanding prices above list for a long time due to the ridiculous wait times for a new one.And if you don't service it once outisde warranty you'll take a bath on residuals once you come to sell anyway. Miss the 4 year, 40k service and I would guess the loss of value will be more than the cost of the service.
