Taycan insurance
Discussion
Who seem to be the best insurer for Taycan’s? I’ve spoke to a couple and none are what I call cheap - plus they all want the Tracker activated which I guess is another £275 a year?
I’m mid 40s, clean license held for over 25yrs, no accidents or claims (9+ NCB which is actually about 25yrs but they all seem to stop counting at 9 now). Best quote I’ve had is £500, next best £800 and both of those are with a 1200 excess!
Any ideas, as at the mo I’m ready struggling to justify the purchase!

Do you think £500 is expensive ? I’m mid 40s, clean license held for over 25yrs, no accidents or claims (9+ NCB which is actually about 25yrs but they all seem to stop counting at 9 now). Best quote I’ve had is £500, next best £800 and both of those are with a 1200 excess!

So yes I do think it’s expensive as it’s basically £800 and a massive excess.
Our company insurance wanted £2500 pa initially , dropped to £1350 after I complained . Big excess too .
But a couple of hundred a year surely isn’t a big deal ?
The tracker is a pain .
My vanquish insurance is £330 pa as a comparison
You could sell it at a profit thou 👍🏻

Given I’ve never had an accident or points or claim in over 25 years of driving, yes I think it’s expensive when you include I MUST have a tracker so that’s 500 plus 275ish is nearly £800. Given my Continental GT was sub £300, my A110 £250, my 430 Spider was £350ish. 911s etc for years, I’ve haven’t paid more than 400 in the last 10years (probably 40cars in total in that time) with the exception of my RRS which is ridiculous at about 700.
So yes I do think it’s expensive as it’s basically £800 and a massive excess.
I'd shop around....though looking at 21ATS' experience on repairs on one of these, it wouldn't surprise me if premiums go up...So yes I do think it’s expensive as it’s basically £800 and a massive excess.

I’ve been online and had quite a lot of quotes come in - some over 2700 with 1k excess. It is concerning as if this is the start of a trend then resale prices will be hit hard - as an outright purchaser it does make me rather worried.ds666 said:
Quotes always have a large spread .
I do get the impression you are looking to either not buy or sell the car ….
How much did you spend on extras ?
It’s a used car at OPC. I’ve done quite a bit of research today on them and have decided to cancel the purchase. Too much of a ££££ risk for me given what I’ve read. I do get the impression you are looking to either not buy or sell the car ….

What is it that’s put you off?
I’ve done a bit more research and there is an awful lot online about quality issues - 21ATS's experience is a major off put and seems farcical - not that I’m doubting him at all, I’ve had a lot of Porsche’s and his experience doesn’t come as a surprise.I experienced the strange braking issue others have mentioned where it goes from soft to firm to soft within a two minute window which just doesn’t feel like a Porsche tbh.
The insurance cost is also a concern because it all adds up. At the beginning the man maths worked out ok, but now it’s going the other way.
The thing that really is a positive is I did the deal at sub 80k for a well specced 21plate car…….

You're buying a 100k+ car outright and worried about a £500 insurance premium? Murph7355 said:
