I'm now being given an estimate of December build January delivery on a CT4S but I went with PTS so that would have delayed it over a standard colour build.

Mine was ordered 10 June and I'm being told end Feb - seems a hell of a gap for a one month difference in order date!
When we placed our order in May at Tonbridge they were taking around 15 orders a week for Taycans.

Basically Taycan orders were equalling or greater than all other models combined.

Multiply that and I can see how easily the production slips. Porsche underestimated the demand.

They were geared up to sell/produce 20,000 this year - they did that in the first 6 months alone.

Any funky PTS orders on the way?
Mine is currently scheduled for January - Oak Green Metallic. I'm not holding my breath though.

Tinkering around on the configurator last night as I impatiently wait for may car to arrive. When you go through the specs and select custom colour it now defaults to green as opposed to black, which is pretty close to what I ordered.

Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but looks just right to me.

These cars look so much better in person than they do on a computer screen.

My work are now doing these on lease at about 1200 coming out of my gross, so not a terrible net cost really.
All inclusive of insurance, servicing, consumables etc.

What are the must haves?
Currently thinking rear wheel steer, electric mirrors and memory seat package with standard seats, Bose, adaptive cruise, parking with surround view, bigger wheels, black and crayon interior, sport chrono with gt wheel.
Not sure if I’m missing any major tech bits or any extra leather that would otherwise be super cheap plastic in really obvious places?
Also not sure on what inlay to pick, the configurator isn’t very clear for that
Be aware that on a lease deal you will pay in full for any options over and above the base price.

So on a 3 year lease £3600 in options will add £100 per month.

The thing with options though is it's quite personal, it's what you need rather than a must have, particularly on a lease as there's no future resale to consider. Just get what you want.

My business partner went with the blue, then changed from a CT to a saloon.

It really pops in the right light, looks quite subdued on an overcast day.

Nice to see cars arriving and peoples specs.

From the configurator I see that Rear camera is now standard. What are the other differences and if software will they update 2021 models.?
The two I noted were Android auto now as well as Carplay and an update to the driving software that allowed for greater range.

There were quite a number of updates, I'm not sure how much of it is upgradeable from 2021 my.

First link I found on Google here:- https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/porsche/taycan/35584...

I just got a price alert from Leaseloco - £860 for the Turbo, 5 seat Saloon, on a 9+47, 5k. £50 more for the 10k. Ex VAT.

That’s mental. Same as my CT4S before I added the options. £12k of options was £200+ VAT on my 1+47, 10k deal.

https://www.leaseloco.com/car-leasing/porsche/tayc...
So assuming you can reclaim half the VAT you're paying £52,976.00 to hire the turbo for 48 months with zero options with a total mileage limit of 20,000. Plus whatever reparations you have to make upon surrender. Or £55,776 for the 10K option.

Or for the CT4S you're paying £55,968 again assuming you can reclaim half the vat on a 10K per annum rate for a car built to your spec with the options you want.

Pretty similar really. You either go with options or more power.

For me the uplift for the turbo didn't warrant the premium, but I chose to pay for PTS. Others probably find that crazy, why would I choose paint over more power?

The thing is as much as we moan about the options gouging I've been a Mercedes/Audi customer for the last 20 years and it's actually refreshing that I can build pretty much exactly what I want without being tied to packages or having to have privacy glass or only black interiors. I accept that I have to pay for that flexibility.

Is there any real world advantage/reason to having the green block on the licence plate?

Is it simply there to let other people know the car is fully electric?

So for the people that have had cars delivered who are you insuring with? We're struggling a little so far.

We used Admiral Multicar.

The Taycan CT 4S has replaced one car on the policy which had less than half the value of the Taycan and it only added £150 to the annual premium which i thought was very reasonable.
Thanks

We just had a quote from them for a very sensible amount (circa £800 per car).

Every other insurer we tried either declined or quoted daft amounts of money.

I’m a bit late to the party, but was very interested in the post. I’m looking at a CT4s, I am waiting for my accountant to come back to me, but if I’m understanding the First Year Write down, in essence if the car is 1000k, you write off the 19k corporation tax year one? If the car is bought on a 4 year business lease, does the same apply or is it spread over the 4 years?

S

Thanks
You can write it off in full in the first year . The only real advantage of this I could see versus a non- purchase lease is cashflow ,as the nett result at the end of the lease or when you come to sell is likely to be very similar overall ( and you have a gamble on future value with the purchase route ) .
Lease seems to be more sensible if you're not loading the car with options or you're doing moderate to high miles.

We decided to "buy" (20ish% deposit 5 years straight HP) with Lombard. So we'll own our cars in full at 5 years and have the option to keep them longer or trade in for whatever the new model is at the time.

I wanted to option mine personally and I won't be doing huge miles, no more than 6000 a year in this car.

The deposit is almost enitrely offset against corporation tax, leaving us £1500 a month for 5 years then we own outright. That's on a £110K list price CT4S.

I just sold my Macan Turbo in prep for the CT and bought a banger that does 72mpg and costs £20 to tax (I'm paying monthly for a rare laugh)! Macan cost £400 pa and Insurer is now going to send me £41 back! I expect c £500 premium for the CT? Big question - do Admiral multicar allow you to have it repaired at Porsche if it get pranged or do they still insist on that dirty body shop in a back lane for their mates rates?
Sold my Audi last friday as I was being offered a daft amount of money for it, despite my car not being due until January. So I'm now on a search for something that will be a good dog car that will become used for my wifes incoming off road wheelchair and her carers to use during the week.

Volvo V50 is the current favourite. There really are some daft asking prices out there. I thought I'd pick up a £2000 disposable something, How wrong was I!

Top Gear article:-

It mirrors my thought process on the 4S vs Turbo question.

I went extra spec over performance numbers.

Maybe, it's just a personal choice isn't it? I've ordered a turbo rather than the 4S because I do want the extra performance and didn't want to feel that the new car was noticeably slower than the Tesla model 3 I currently have (turbo and M3P look similar with regards to accelerative performance on paper). The extra cost doesn't look like a waste to me, and it'll be purchased/run through a business. Also, I'm assuming that most people will be using some sort of finance (I am) and numbers-wise the turbo wasn't a great stretch beyond the 4S. If you were buying outright then I can sort of see the price argument. For me, I couldn't justify the cost of the turbo S over the turbo, but I'm sure that plenty can.

I've further compounded my 'mistake' by heavily optioning it as well. Oh well, I'm sure that I'll enjoy it biggrin
We are buying outright but using finance (Lombard - HP) We're also buying two of them.

I'd love to see carwow get all four of these model together for a drag race, I have a feeling the numbers on the paper stats are fudged a bit to make it look like there are clear steps between the cars. I've already seen a few tests for the 4S registering sub 4 secs to 60. That's more than enough for me.

When we took a test drive (in saloon Taycan's) we drove the 4S and followed the salesman in a turbo. Off the line and at junctions there was nothing between the cars from a standing start. It was only when we were already above licence losing speeds that the turbo started to stretch it's legs.

It was that that made our decision.

I also don't consider it a waste, it's simply a personal choice, it just didn't seem to be worth the premium for me. Someone else may read this and wonder why anyone is considering anything less than the Turbo S.

I was comparing this to a 2017 S6 Avant, on which I only ever tried the launch control once, out of curiosity, the week I got it.

I have a question re: Sport Chrono - is this necessary in order to access the various modes including Sport Plus, or can you get to them via the infotainment screen, and therefore Sport Chrono is not really needed (IMHO)?
I had a feeling you didn't get Sport Plus mode if you didn't choose the Sport Chrono pack, I have no idea where I read that but I can't find it now.

Must be worth asking the dealer.

I ordered it for pure convenience (the steering wheel control) but I went with the compass option. No idea why, just chose that over the stopwatch thing.

Without chrono you get sport plus on the suspension but not the transmission. Not sure what Sport plus on the trans gives you maybe launch control?
Yes that's it. You don't get launch without the Sport Chrono option. I remember reading that.

My 4S CT arrived today. Quite a thing! Lots of tech to get used to and the touch screens are annoying but otherwise very impressive.

From the hour drive i've had so far, I can assure those waiting for their 4S and worrying it might be underpowered, have nothing to worry about.

I've had plenty of high performance cars (recently one with 789 HP) and the 4S is no slouch!

I'm not interested in speeds much above the legal limit for this car so I really can't see the need for anything more.

Looking forward to an evening drive to try out the LED Matrix Headlights.

Nice to see more arriving.

We need a like button on here.
