really insightful thread which im keeping a firm eye on.

I sold my E63s after 4 fantastic years of ownership (and 20k miles a year!) , and currently daily a Tesla model 3 company car through work for the BIK savings, like most other people. As much as it pains me to say, the Tesla is bloody brilliant. Not sure i'd buy one with my own money though as it does nothing for me in the looks or excitement department.

which leads me to the Taycan. Im changing jobs which means il be car-less soon. Currently looking at ST GTS's as that is honestly the only EV i'd pay for with my own money at the moment. I've read the buying guides, watched most videos on them and struggle to see why i wouldnt love it.

My only real issue is depreciation and the internet chinese whispers of reliability. it would be nice to get out of it in say 3 or 4 years time and not take a beating. Because of the depreciation, finance quotes are pretty ugly on PCPs. the perk is free charging at work and i have charging facilities at home.

Wait for prices to come down even further or take the plunge within the next month. Or - buy another E63s or M5, suck up the fuel bill every month and enjoy the noise every day!

Other caveat - i do circa 15/20k miles a year. Not bothered about public charging as its extremely rare that i need to rely on it.

Wait for the Macan Turbo EV, with 600 plus BHP should be an excellent drive. Who knows but having better range, being at a lower price point plus also being a premium SUV I Suspect depreciation may be kinder than on taycan (at least for a while till supply potentially overtakes demand).

If you wait for a couple of months because prices are falling you'll never buy one.

Fab cars. Be clear on the spec you want, find a car, negotiate hard and enjoy.

Make sure it's covered by warranty.

A year old or less and you're at 100-110k maybe tops.

2yrs 85-100k.

Maybe less depending on spec etc.

Do it they are incredible cars. If you’re buying new I’d be pushing for 30k discount on a new GTS.

Cheers all. Tempted by a new one simply because I can spec it to my taste - in essence if a 30k saving can be achieved there or there abouts, the options would essentially be free.

Facelift and stagnant sales on current stock should sway it. Getting a discount from a Porsche dealer, who’d have thought - when I bought a Panamera 4s from a dealer back in 2017 I didn’t get a single penny off. How times change.

I’m not sure you’ll get any discount off an ordered car, more likely off a car sitting somewhere in the UK waiting for an owner.

I’d be interested to hear how you get on.

I was in Porsche a couple of days ago, whilst no real details yet on 24 car, at least mid year for deliveries, no discount and prices going up (bigger battery and longer range) was the over all theme.

And given the only stock they now mainly have is the country and has to last until June and it’s a new financial year with less pressure until quarter or year end I can’t see the need for a fire sale.

No specifics yet though.

Our local dealer has sold at least 4 Taycans that I know of in the last 3 weeks, and prices are starting to firm.

That's my understanding as well.

Despite what some may say and think, they have played their hand quite well and a few (including my GTS) may well have been highly discounted but that ship may well have sailed for the moment.

I would be amazed if there are any discounts currently on factory orders.

What you should do first of all is to test drive one. It’s going to be as interesting/uninteresting as most other EVs and until there is evidence to the contrary I would expect continued sharp depreciation. For exactly that reason.

ah - jumped the gun with that then (And got a bit excited). would make more sense that discounts would be had on forecourt cars. Nevertheless, i'll do some digging this weekend. Think i need to try one first. 4 weeks and the Model 3 goes back to my employer so i need to get my skates on.

Not sure where you are in the UK?

I'm happy to share my contact at Mid-Sussex who has over the years been as good as they get.

II bought a used Taycan Turbo S ST at the beginning of the year.

If your going to get a Taycan, my recommendation is get one with the 93.4kWh battery and 150kW DC-DC converter. This will give you access to high speed public charging.
I was able to charge at 240kWh with Ionity yesterday for free with my Porsche charge card and managed 210 miles on a full charge and it was below freezing all day.
I do similar miles to you and have to rely on public charging, which is getting better, for the longer trips, although 2 out of the 6 Ionity high speed chargers that I used yesterday were out of action for whatever reason.

For free? It’s half price with Ionity and a Porsche card, isn’t it?

30p/kwh is the cost using the Porsche RFID card at Ionity charging stations.

No it’s not, it’s subsidised at 30p for the first 3 years. You see it invoiced at the end of each month against the credit card you give when you set up your Porsche account.

Correct.
